I just finished a new book which just recently came out called Escape from the Deep. It is the story about the USS Tang's last patrol and subsequent story of survival at sea and in Japanese prison camps. It is an outstanding book and would suggest those with an interest in this area should consider reading this book. What the 9 USS Tang survivors (including Richard O'Kane) went through in prison, where they were referred to as Special Prisoners is inspiring.
Alex Kershaw is the author, and has written a number of other excellent books.
