since i cant patch back to 1.5, what versions of the following will run on ver 1.4?

Giving up to easy bro. Go back to your original no load thread and see what I suggested. There is some wayward file hanging out on your disk. Do a search and find it. Delete the bugger. Re-install.

i went to the sticky and followed it, but none of the reg keys they listed were there ?!?

Understood about the reg keys. Have the computer look for files and folders labelled SH4. Delete it all. Then re-install all. Also, open your programs on your hard drive. You will probably still have UBI folder there with things left over. Dump that also. When I reinstall the game, I make sure without a shadow of a doubt that all traces of SH4 are gone. It has worked for me on several occassions.
