just got it installed gonna reboot and start playing, i bought it today at wal mart for $19.85.

Are there any mods that are reccomended i get or will i be good with the stock game for awhile?

Real Fleet Boat (RFB) and Trigger Maru (TM) are the ones to check out. Both have their individual qualities and depends on what realism you wish to take on. Both are excellent super mods in their own right. Great effort by both teams in my books.

Run Silent Run Deep Campaign (RSRDC) is virtually a complete re-write of the campaign files and is excellent. It is based on research and lurker_hlb3 has done a terrific job simulating the events.

Then of course there are the Environmental and Pacific Environment mods that truly change the whole aspect of the 3d environment. Absolutely amazing work by these guys involved.

Anyway, check the link out as there are many more amazing mods for the grabbing by truly creative and skillfull persons.

There are more mods than you could imagine you surely can customize it to your taste. But we need a starting point.

i dunno what version i got but im gonna start patching now, i got the graphics cranked down to the LOWEST setting and the thing still isnt "playable" i hope to god a patch will fix it. do i just need to download the latest patch? or do i have to download all of them to fix all the problems.

What graphics card are you running? If you are trying to run this on an intergrated video chipset you are going to run into all sorts of problems.

....are you referring to standard SHIV or SHIV Gold Edition?

lol its the regular version i looked for the gold version at walmart but they didnt have it, i installed the latest patch which was 1.4 and the game is working great now thanks guys.

Depending on your video card there may be some driver updates to that that will help as well.
