Greetings all.

About 30mins ago I experienced some very strange paranormal activity aboard my IXC,enroute to S.America.I am about 1000km from my PZ in EE 65 (I think) when I ran into a pretty fierce storm blocking out most of our visibility,so I ordered a dive to 30m as soon as it got dark.At about 0800 I quickly raised the OS to check in fact it WAS light so I could surface again,(I do this in storms)when all of a sudden it appeared that I had somehow launched a torp from tube 1!,at 30m?.Correct me if I am wrong but before the nibelung device becomes available and the neccessary torpedoes to fire at such depths its not possible to launch at this depth is it,in fact you cant even open the caps at 30m.Was it possible that somehow I had activated some sort of bug in the game?.
Anyway,I am due to break the surface in a few mins where I will get to work reloading that mysterious tube. :o

Cheers.

Wonder if I could have somehow caught the enter button,as it is pretty close to the Ctrl and raise/lower keys, but I shouldnt have been able to launch at 30m.
I am almost certain I had not caught the key prior to diving :shifty:
I hope none of you think this post is too stupid enough not to even reply to

What year are you sailing in? If its 1943 -1945, U-boats were able to launch torpedoes from 60m.

No, it's not a stoopid question. Heck, when I was running stock SH3 I was accidentally firing torpedoes all the time by hitting "enter" (I played Civ4 a lot and that is the key for "next turn").:nope:

Try installing GWX 2.1. It changes the "fire selected torpedo" to "Control+Enter", making misfires much less likely.

All the best. KH.

U46,I am in Jan 42.I never knew you could launch from 60m without the nibelung system, which was in 44?,or early 45?,cant remember.Well, cheers for your reply anyhow.
Kielhauler,I agree,it is easy to catch that bloody button as its so close to the scope shortcut buttons.*damn,im sure I didnt catch it before diving*
Oh well,cheers you two.

Hmm,I have just read a post concerning strange game behaviour when saving the game submerged. If I remember,I THINK I had just saved the game as I reached 30m as it was a while since my last save,so I thought I had better do it,then. The post detailed problems with torpedoes, mainly when trying to reload them.Could this also account for torps being accidentally fired?

Thanks again :hmm:

I have read of many people experiencing problems reloading a saved "underwater" game, although it's never happened to me. Best advice is probably don't save while submerged, within 50km of land or ships (especially those you have just sunk - they tend to re-spawn.

I've been playing the game since it first came out, have installed more mods, tweaks and bug fixes than I care to remember, and run it now on a cutting-edge system. It hasn't been an easy trip though...

Hmmm, that could be a nice glitch to try with say, liners. Sink it, save, reload, sink it again! ;) That's never happened on my game though. what is funny though is if I save at periscope depth and reload I come back with the bridge manned while still submerged! BLUBLBUBLBLBLB!

:rotfl: Not a good spot to be in while underwater

Look on the bright side: you're getting the laundry done and still on course!

Yeah, you could be right there, especially with only one can between about 50 men!,christ I can just imagine the smell of all those soiled pants *phew*

Nope, it don't work that way, you can sink the ship again but you won't get the credit.
