View Full Version : SH3 Commander file path quirk?

I have multiple installs of SH3 with various mods, with SH3 Commander "pointing" at the install in program files (the ONLY install in program files AND the only one I use for single player campaign). I use Commander from my desktop to play my single player campaign. Any other copies that I use, I access through the explore computer file "tree". Of late AFTER saving game (on surface AND in my single player campaign install) and exiting out to desktop, I get the infamous " Microsoft needs to close program" error message. I think this started after playing a online multi-player game (using a different install) and then playing my single campaign. When I look at my file "tree" the copy I used for my multiplayer game is "highlighted" even though I had been supposedly playing my single campaign copy. When I "highlight" my single campaign install and THEN use Commander to play it; save and exit, "voila" the error message does not appear. It would seem that Commander is accessing something it shouldn't otherwise. It's probably no big deal except that (from my experience ) the "Microsoft needs to close program" message tends to lead to bigger and badder error messages. Any thoughts on this anyone?

I can assure you that SH3Cmdr does not care what install is highlighted in Windows Explorer, LOL.

If you have "pointed" SH3Cmdr to your single player installation of SH3, either through the now obsolete "/l:" switch or through the replacement "SH3 Path" option in R3.0+, SH3Cmdr will access that installation and that installation only.

So why your crashes? Heck, it's a save file so could be anything; just search the archives for proof of that! I mean, what mods are you running, have you installed any associated "SH3Cmdr compatibility" files for your mod? How are you saving? Etc etc etc...
