I'm new to this game so there might be some grand aspect of naval warfare I'm missing but....should my boat be randomly getting destroyed piece by piece? To make the short story longer.... Here's what happened, I'm running around the Marshal Islands when I stumble upon multiple radar contacts, which happened to be stationary ships. So I figured my patrol being unproductive as it was (7500 tons sunk, sucks) this is a good way to boost the numbers, should be easy pickens.

Anyway....after about a day of cruising around the group of islands trying to find my way though some damn fishing net around the whole deal, I finally find a break and make my way into the the chicken coop. Six fish and 23000 tons later I'm ready to RTB when all of a sudden I get reports of everything in my ship taking damage, starting with the stern working its way up to the bow. As a wise man on the internet once elegantly put it... "WTF Mate?".

There were no enemy contacts to be found and I had good 25-30 feet of water between me and the bottom.

Any ideas?

BTW I'm running v1.5 with TMO and RSRDC, everything turned on except Manual Targetting :arrgh!: yeah, I know, but I'm learning.

~cheers

Could be a couple of things. You probably hit a mine, especially if you were around a lot of sub net, (Thats not fishing net your seeing.) or you could have been shot by land units as they are all around the Marshalls, the mods your using make sure of that.

BTW, welcome to Subsim.

Fishing nets

Looks like you found either a mine or a subnet(which are used to simulate reefs).

Well now...it was dark so I didn't see much I'll have to re-load and see if it happens again. BTW are the mines supposed to have a physical representation or you just have to take their word for it that they "should" be there.

And, thank you for the welcome. :D

Moral of the story?

Avoid "Harbor Raids" if the pickets dont get you the nets, mines, or shore batterys will. As if the planes werent enough.;)

Yeah but it was so tempting, especially since my patrols have been rather boring, have yet to see a combat vessel. It's all two week run to your AO, spend couple days there, sink a few merchants and be on your two week trip back. Rinse repeat.

Welcome aboard shape of grey.

Ah but the satisfaction of sinking the merchants though. Remember the more mercs sunk the less chance supplies can reach their destination. I'm yet to sink a capital ship but sure have made a dint in the supply chain though :arrgh!:
