IL2 mods - how to get started?

Alternate graphics dlls aren't necessary, but I'd recommend them. They might give you a few extra fps, and they give you the ability to set the viewdistance to 72 km(only 36 before) if your rig can take it. They are test versions of the future 4.09 dlls, and work quite well. Just beware that those at AAA aren't the newest version, those you can get at least from the official 1C forum and maybe M4T.

About the dlls: Yep, the dlls included with the beta allow you to do that. Those are just newer versions of them, released separately. For me they fixed a problem with the game, but if you don't have any then you don't obivously "need" them. Backup the originals and give them a try, you can always just delete them.

M4T is just generally a good place for downloads, somehow more "professional" than AAA, and there's lots of stuff available.

Hunter I guess you need to delete this thread and I'll ask my questions in another forum. I was in such a rush to get advice on this I skim-read your instructions (twice, but too fast both times) and then posted.
