View Full Version : New and HUGE problem for the books...

During the course of my 1x patrol i have run across a problem i have not heard of ever before with SH3.

Here is the scenario...

today at around 7 pm i noticed my interior lights switch from red to white light. We were in a massive storm and i noticed it was rather dark outside. Thought it might have something to do with the storm, or the reduction of the storm's severity. i didnt give it another thought even though i thought this was strange.

the fact is it was about to turn night time in the game and in Real life so if anything the lights should have gone from white to red...

but thats not the problem...

i poked my head out the conning tower and got a bigger surprise when this nasty weather cleared...

The clock shows 0043 hours... local time shows 2343 hours - essentially midnight...

but the sun is shining directly overhead in a beautiful clear sky!

and i dont mean a bright sky like you might find in extreme northern regions at night. Im talking about it is high freakin noon in arizona on a high pressure day! and the sun is directly overhead.

though the clock says 0043 (midnightish)... i think SH3 is messed up and is thinking it is 1243 (noonish)

somehow during the course of my 1x patrol... the physical day/night cycle seems to be 180 degrees out of synch with the clock day night cycle.

any ideas???

i saved, exited the game, opened up the save and it is the same problem.

the good news is... Im about 7 and a half hours from intercepting a large convoy. assuming SH3 is not stuck on noon and the sun will continue to move throughout the day i will be intercepting the convoy right about night fall.... at 8:00am . uhhhhhh... right

i just wonder if the units will respond as if it is night? or if they will act as if it is day? irregardless of whether or not the sun and clock disagree hmmmm

this could get interesting

Yes could be very interesting, try a night surface attack in broad daylight!:88)

well im in the midst of sth like this being 150km west of scapa flow in june. i cant get enough from the beautiful sunrises at 2:15am with a golden yellow horizont. the watchteam ran already outta sunblocker caused by 20 hrs beachconditions.

ps: the enemies didnt detect me approaching them with high speed surfaced until i was <1000m away.

Never come across this so close to Europe :hmm:

Approximately how far west of the Greenwich Meridian are you?

1200 KM west of La Rochelle France.

its about 11:00am now in real life... and about 1100 am in the game... pitch black with stars and moon.

I watched the sunset at about 8:40 this morning... and yes, the sun went down on the western horizon as one would expect.

all throughout the night last night it was bright blue sunny day.

and not day like this mind you... http://are.berkeley.edu/courses/EEP101/spring03/AllThatSmog/pictures/sky.jpg

i mean it was DAY like this
http://www.danielcuretonwilliams.co.uk/images/sunny_sky.jpg

there was a very beautiful sunset at around 8:30-50 this morning.

im currently conducting an attack on a convoy about 1200 KM west of la rochelle and it is night time... problem with that is that it is 11:00am!

I had the problem in the Indian Ocean, I don't know what mods you play, but I think it's probably a stock issue. Furthermore it didn't ever go away, I had it every patrol right from the start.

It's not a problem with the game. Didn't you know that the Earth's orbit and rate of spin was different back then ? :D

I've seen rain pouring down out of a cloudless, sunny sky in both stock SH 3 & GWX so environmental oddities don't surprise me too much anymore...
