I just got "Wolves of the Pacific" yesterday.

Two questions jump right out at me.

1) Would somebody direct me to a list of Patches and or other "add-ons" that I need.

2) As in SH3, you needed "renoun" in order to upgrade. Is that still in place in this game?

3) What boat do you start with. The SH3 manual told you that what boat you could start with. In starting a career, what boat will you start with?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions, so please bear with me.

God Bless

Till all are one.

1. Check the SH4 mods forum. There are 2 major supermods, both of which are mutually exclusive. Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) and real Fleet Boat (RFB). They are equally good but have different design philosophies, so they offer different things.

2. Yes, you need renown to purchase crew, upgrades and new torps. Similar to SH3.

3. Starting boat depends on the base you start in and the year. For example if you start in Manila in Dec 1941 you get an S-Boat. Pearl Harbour in 1843, maybe a Gato-class.
In my current career I started in Brisbane in mid-1942 and got a Salmon class.

Forgive me for being so "slow," but if understand this correctly, unlike SH3 where you needed to dl patch 1.4, here, if I decide to use for example Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO), it will include to "patch" for it?

Thanks for the answer to question #2.

And typically, I like to go the career way and like in SH3, pursue a career from the start of the war to the end. So if I understand you correctly, if I start in 1941, then depending on my coice of starting base, sub availibilty is dependant.

Thanks for your patience.

No, TMO & RF are just mods. You'll have to d/l the official patches separately.

The latest official patch you can d/l is 1.4. The only way to get 1.5 is to purchase the add-on "U-Boat missions" that adds the u-boats and upgrades the entire SH4 to 1.5. IMO even if you don't intend to play u-boats in the pacific it's well worth it.

Ok, one last question for now.

Unlike SH3, my U Boat, U-123, I can set torpedo running depth at 1 m. If I am correct, the standard running depth at a minimun for U.S. sub torpedo is 3 feet.

So in all regards, other than a few inches, torpedos are running at nearly the same depth?

Thanks.

I would say depth pretty much the same but more than anything both sides had various torpedo problems of some sort in early stages of war.

Ok now, this is really a stupid question.

Ok now, this is really a stupid question.

Where do you turn the radio on and off? :hmm:

Look for the little camera icon at the bottom of the screen.

It will bring up several selections from cameras to radio and grammaphone.

Click the radio one and a radio will pop up on you screen. There are several buttons on the 'radio' one of which is play the > button. The stock radio only recieves one station and repeats the same song over and over. That can be modified of course.

Unless of course your talking about radio coms with subpac. That is done through the message interface.
