GWX 2.1 North of Shetland, I was in my Type IXB trying to rake in more merchant tonnage. The war is ending and all I wanted is to bring my crew home safely.

Then suddenly a large group of war ships come right at me! Among them, 2 battleships, one Duke of York and one Neveda. and two heavy cruisers, Fiji and Brooklyn. Fire 4 shots (I wish I was in a six-shooter type XXI), sink the Nevada, and disable the Fiji, (which I finish off after I endure the DC attack).

But why are these battleships here? shouldn't they be in the Pacific fighting Japan?

Your going to complain about some nice tonnage that you have just sunk? Don't ask questions and enjoy the celebration!

Not all heavy vessels were transferred to the Pacific....even after the Germans surrendered.

In reality you would have just missed Nevada. After surviving Pearl Harbor she was repaired and transferred to the Atlantic. She headed back to the Pacific on February 16, 1945.

She's probably a fill-in for another US Battleship that was historically in the region

EDIT: Though I can't find any that fit the description

Or else they knew that she was there but didn't know when she left, or didn't care.
I like to whine about historical accuracy, but with a game it's kind of hard to have every single detail correct. I guess knowing this it wouldn't be too hard to go in now and change it.

I might just do that for my own game, but right now I don't care enough either. Maybe later.

The USS Nevada after all did provide fire support for D-Day... :hmm:
That's why she's in Britain...

Postscript;

Catch the task force returning and sunk the Duke of York as well. Later in the patrol, saw another Nevada Class battleship in a Task Force with a Bogue and Southhampton. This time, I have too few torps left to press an attack. I never saw a battleship in all of my last 27 patrols, now I saw 3 in one patrol. Must be a reward for my good deeds.

The SH3 Commander put USS Oklahoma in my log book. I guess the US refloated her and send her to an excerise in the relatively safe North Sea.

As many times as you care to sink her. :lol:
