View Full Version : Re: 2009 SUBSIM Almanac stories
What are the maximum/minimum word limits? Are scholarly treatments permitted again this year? Sorry to make a new thread for this but I can't reply to the announcement.

Thanks, yes, scholarly naval topics are welcome, very much so. It's always great to have some of the website's regulars talent in the book.
Minimum length ~3000 words
Max: 40,000 words (longer? e-mail me (subsim@subsim.com))
thanks.

Do you have a version restriction for Word? I have the 2007 version now and I'm wondering if you would like it 2007 form or 2003 form (not that the story is ready quite yet...)
Thanks,
Chris

How about a couple of sea stories, lets see there was the one where we hit something running along about 4kts at 200' with the periscope down of course, no contacts or bilogic's in the Med back in 69
or
the one where we caught the captain riding the exercycle between the tubes eating potato chips at the same time.
or
the one when I asked the super smart XO why he was on subs when he could've been a CEO anywhere in the states.
His answer was simply this, "Well bascially I'm a killer"

I use Word 97 (don't laugh! ), I think it will read any version of Word. Just don't put a lot of work into the formatting, because I have to format it to work with the publishing house anyway. thanks!
When do we find out about the status of our entries?
After the 29th Im assuming?
:D

Correct, thanks
And how about sending you a story from a book?. With the credits well stated, of course.
It's just that I know of an amusing submarine story well worth reading. A bit short, though, not sure it would comply with the minimum of 3000 words.

I've misplaced the link to the almanac :damn: and Neal has changed his "sticky" to being an old subsimmer.

Pioneer, you could just e-mail it to Neal (subsim@subsim.com) -- that's what I did with my story anyway.

Now that the deadline is passed I'm curious to know how many entrants there are in this contest :hmm:
Hey....whats the status of this contest and such?
