Ahoy...sailors....I have recently discovered th SH 3 and find it a fantastic sim...
My reason to go sub is my interest in the bloody biscay and the amazing feasts fought on both sides there ....anyhow..
Since my noob level is 100 % and after serching the forums i ve found very little about changing skins and adding signia/emblems
I would like to add churchcustom emblems..to my :know: boat....the readme tells me where to put em.....fine...but where do u change em ingame ?? same for skins...
appreciate any help....as learningcurve issteap...and firing torpedoes is hard and fun..
cheers

Ahoy mate!
Enabling emblems is simple, really. When you drop your custom ones in the designated folder, start up the game, and while in your office, go to the sub managment screen. (the one where you change your torpedo layout, or modify your conning tower) You can select an emblem for your sub in the Specials section. However, if memory serves me right, in vanilla SH3 you need to complete a patrol or two before BdU finds you "worthy" of painting an emblem. And even then you can only select your flotilla emblem, but propably, after a couple more patrols, you'll be able to paint whatever you want on you conning tower.
Oh, this problem in nonexistant in GWX. It enables you to select any emblem you choose, even before your first patrol. And if you havent played GWX, trust me, the choice is very big.
As for skinning... well truth to be told I never did use a skin for my sub, dunno why. But as StarLion45 said, it's propably as easy as downloading it, and enabling via JSGME before you start the game.

Actually it's SH 3 Commander, not GWX, that allows you to place an emblem on your boat before your first patrol. They're both very worthwhile downloads which will vastly improve your SH III experience.
Welcome...:)

@ Gaz hey there fellow sailor..
i have done much for flightsims in photoshop....the format the markings are made in work fine ( i think ) to edit in photoshop...
start outwith oldmarkings as templates and work from there.....if u are familiar to photoshop and layers , it is a real treat  to model and paint stuff..
