Hey! That's muh hometown range. Guy named Del Schanze had a place called Totally Awesome Computers. Made so much money he bought a local range and gun shop and gave it the same name. He has a full-auto AK-47 he'll let anybody shoot - you just pay for the ammo you blow off.

TOTALLY AWESOME!

Oh, and this is the first time I've ever seen that commercial.

Once a year I go to the "Mustang range" in nevada to blow things up. The name is not a joke and it is a lot of fun. You can shoot just about anything that goes bang. Check em out! They have some summer shoots this August and run into early October. The night time tracer shoots are a fire works show of themselves.

Many years back the IRS took it over for back taxes and went broke.

I am serious as a heart attack about this. I'm sure some of our better researchers can find the story about this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zad1vrkvNCAMan, that is neat, but nothing compared to AZ. These guys in OK didn't even bring any tanks or artillery to the range.

And for you Euro's - yes we can have tanks with real guns and we can have artillery too. We aren't limited to single shots rifles or anything.

Some examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpyUGfB883Q

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i35UQC1pks

Matter of fact, this clip will show you a lot of the things a common civi can own, and yes, you get the ammo for it too. I love the guy holding his ears prior to the tank going off!:

PS. Next I expect a Euro to say - why on Earth do you need or that they let you have fully operational tanks or artillery? I will respond in kind with the standard line - Why not? So don't ask. And no, no one robs a conveinence store with a tank over here.

That doesn't say much either way since the guy stole it from a "military installation". Maybe the army shouldn't be allowed to have tanks.

This reminds me of the first time I fired anything. 15 years old with my mate's spring-loaded air rifle. He never told me how to hold it or warned me of the kick. So there I am, rifle loosely held to my shoulder with my eye to the scope. Pulled the trigger...CRUNCH...scope hit me between the eyes and I have blood pouring everywhere. My mate's on the floor laughing. I still bear the faint scar. You live and learn.:rotfl: :rotfl:

A spring loaded air rifle with a noticeable kickback? I never even realized mine had one ad all.:hmm:Mine has one. Sends out a .177 pellet at about 900+ fps! Can be used for hunting small game. I have 4 types of pellets for it, from hunting to target practice.

This thing is so strong that if you fire it, the compression is so massive that smoke comes out of the barrel. Blow in from one side and you get a little smoke cloud.

PS. i stand corrected! This thing does over 1000 fps!

Best thing for kick is .50 cal black powder. I've gone home at the end of the day to have a nice black bruise on my shoulder! Its kind of like someone hauling back and punching you because its very solid.

That is NOT a handgun. That is an artillery piece without wheels.

Handguns do not require spotters 5KM away with a radio.

Handguns are not fired in indirect fire mode taking in to account the earth's rotation.

That is NOT a handgun!

OMG not just a .60 but a .60 Mag <shudder>

With a Bullet Weight of 900 grains and a Muzzle Velocity 1950 fps, it produces Muzzle Energy of 7591 ft/lbs or 3½ tons.

each round costs $40.00.... per round. This is NOT a handgun it is an anti-tank field piece sans limber. :)

We had 3 of these going in the desert! The funny militia guys off in the distance with their semi auto trying to off rds between all of them as fast as possible - we pulled up three of these, one being a .40 cal, and one being standard (9mm), and one being a PDW (tiny secret service one). We unleased 100 rds at one time in about 3 seconds total time! All the militia guys went silent for a bit! It was too funny! I have it on video!

That was a good day. I bought 700 rds of 9mm earlier in the day for $1.74 a box of 50! That didn't include what everyone else bought! We had about 5000 rds total. I also picked up 120 rds of 5.56, and about 200 rds of 7.62x39 too.

We brought a Glock 18 with us, but that thing just eats ammo like its going out of style, so I avoided it after about 3 mags. Also had a fully auto Krinkov with us, and an M-16.

:o :o Holy Crap! What brand?! What store?! Was the ammo any good? Send me a few boxes! :DIt was generic crap 115 gr - white box, probably reloaded. I didn't have a single misfire either! Worked great! I wouldn't use it to take someone down, but for plinking in the middle of AZ, no problem! Its been about 1.5 years now since I found that price. We are into 2 digits lately for a box of 50 rds. No way around it. Gas and metal have gone through the roof price wise.

Trust me though, I worked that trip. Got everything free or at major discount. Rented a Cadillac DTS even for $49 a day, got lodging including free drinks at night and breakfast at a discount of $200 for $99 a day. I'm just touching the tip of the iceberg. Got them to rent the penthouse at the grand canyon for $150 a day for example - thats what I offered if nobody took it and they took it! Trust me, i worked that trip farther than you can possibly imagine.

Ah. I can get a box (200 rounds) of UMC 9mm for about 10-15 dollars here. At least, that's what it was about six months ago. I don't even remember if it was on sale, either. :yep:

True, the AK will eat anything you put in it (which is practically the exact opposite with an AR-15/M-16). I use Wolf brand for my SKS (Bought about two months ago). I thought about buying even cheaper Tiger ammo for it, but I have essentially lost my trust of Chinese imported goods.

Man, I'd love to go out into the open (like the AZ desert) to have a fun day of shooting. Too bad there is almost no outdoor gun ranges around here, and there's even less public land.

Someday soon I will be moving out of "Kalifornia". You cannot buy jack diddly here as far as decent guns are concerned. I want a Thompson .50 with a drum. A couple of montha ago, I was at the rifle range with my .480 Redhawk. I shoot at the 100 yard range. I heard the guys next to me talking about a rabbit that was running around at the 150 yards range, up the hill a bit. I used my binoculars and saw him. One guy had a 30-06 and tried to hit the bunny, but no luck. The rabbit was waiting for a taste of my .480. I raised my front sight one inch above little bunny foo foo's head and squeezed one off. This was using a sandbag by the way. The rabbit exploded and took a 400 grain XTP while doing a mid air summersault. The range master was laughing and never thought he would see the day someone shot a Jack rabbit at 150 yards with an iron sighted handgun. Me neither! But it was fun. The guys with the scoped rifles just looked at me funny too.

Speaking of weapons harming their users, I really really wish I had a vid of mySergeant at Camp Pendelton's School of Infantry. We were learning how to fire the AT-4 anti-tank rocket launcher and he decided to demonstrate its' proper usage. He forgot to remove the safety pin on his first attempt, and allowed the launcher (which was on his shoulder) to tilt upwards at an extreme angle as he removed it, with his hand still on the firing stud. The resulting backblast blew him off of his feet and set his boots on fire:rotfl:

We had to do wind sprints as punishment for being unable to stop laughing at him but it was worth it.

My shooting days are basically over, suffered a detached retina in June and still recovering. Thank goodness I still have my vision, albeit 20/20 with glasses in the left eye and 20/35 in the right (which means everything in the right eye is smaller and darker due to surgery).
.375 H&H magnum rifle was quite amusing to shoot decades ago. Had a hair trigger and of course when I touched it, the rifle fired and planted the scope in my forehead. No blood though.
Fired a .454 Casull at the gun range in Vogelweh Rod and Gun Club- ouch!
My favorites of all time- a .69 caliber Charleville flintlock musket (I own a .75 caliber Land pattern musket, aka Brown Bess).
4th of July is reserved for the flint .60 cal Horseman's pistol and the black powder swivel cannon. :arrgh!:
