Yeah, its like this:

One sunk for 4ktons or so, afterwards spotting a BIG convoy, using some care and time in order to intercept something from thereof. Succeeds after a s**tload of sneaking about, etc. followed by a carpload of DCs and all that nonsense.

Well, all good so far because of us escaping without loss of limb and life, etc. and even succeeding in sinking the bugger for approx. 5000 tons or so. Was followed by us dashing due west until no contacts seen or any noticeable activity observed (the game was running smoothly at 1024xTC) and then saving and exiting (was some 500km+ from the coast too).

The result: the aforementioned save crashes the game.

Seriously, what IS THE F*NG POINT if this is how this, eh, "works"??? Or should we, rather, wait for DFTD to get somewhere???

All kudos to GWX et.al. But if the basic game is THIS f*d then what's the point?

Rant off and all that + another disgruntled Kaleun signing off ehehh :ping:

PS. Oh, and was surfaced too and all the basics "in ordnung" so it wasn't that.

PPS. Bernard, of course

That would p*ss me off too. If it wasn't for GWX I'd throw the game out (far too many bugs in the stock product). It seems like it was written by somebody who was just learning programming. That's one of the things that's kept me from buying SH IV.

GWX 2.1 plus a coupla mods.

Cheers guys. I was SO p***ed off yesterday when I wrote the above! Plus thanks mods for editing the topic - was admittedly a bit strong...

And yes, I of course loaded a previous save too & will soon be after that convoy AGAIN

S! all. Yeah, the problem w/ SH3 - can't shoot it, can't live with it :ping:

Yeah, been there. In my experience, there is NO guarantee that a saved game can be loaded. just have to save a lot and hope an erlier save will load. The only sure save if the one at base, so try to make it home before turning it off. I play on my laptop, which could hibernate, so I don't have to exit the game.

i play silent hunter since its release in 2005 and i almost never had save game problems i take care of saving far for potential saturated places that's all i've lots of mods installed i don't make the list there's a lot but in general i don't modify the dat files except where i can't do anything else i don't know if it comes from that but i can say i rarely have the wish of throwing the game from the windows far from that

You're one lucky bastage Jpm! Whereas me

1st off, the Mediterranean is a complete no-go for me. The game crashes every time a destroyer comes closer to my boat than approx. half a mile there. 2nd, the Black Sea theatre is playable only if I play a patrol all the way through without saving, because every save I've ever tried to load there has crashed. Yes - every single one :damn:

This is a great game. But I sometimes - and I kid you not - have a powerful urge to send a soft and smelly package to UBISoft nevertheless :nope:

i've made my "supermod" step by step trying the gaming regularly that's why it works fine the only little problem it's the very long loading times but as my uboot waits for me the cargo full of torpedoes it isn't a problem for me then http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/jpm1/Emoticons/rire2.gif

I've had probably 12 games, maybe more, fail to load. I've also had the game CTD during play about 8 times. It is very frustrating, and quite inexcusable for a developed game. But that's the way it is. The one plus is that the game has crashed me out of tight spots before, so I take my lost tonnage with a grain of salt that the crash works both ways.

It is really annoying though when you spend 4 hours sinking some serious tonnage only to have it evaporate the next time you load the game. Oh well.

I had loooong patrol too, did sunk 5 ships worth 14k tons, many many days waiting good weather for gun work and so on...Only to find out later that saved game crashed to desktop and i must start all those days from beginning again.:damn: Deja Vu...

Kaluen,

Bah...usually when I get the saved game bug it "time travels" all the way back through "good" saves previously used. I always wind up back in port at the end of the last mission. Its not the first time and if you play for many years it is DEFINITELY NOT the last time.

Its sucktastic but we must drive on. :arrgh!:

Hang in there see you on the briny!
