A guy called Arneh should be coming out with a functioning 3D Hind cockpit in the nearish future. The 3D Apache cockpit he did is amazing.

I think an Mi 24 would kind of be fun for an afternoon ride.

What kind of flight controllers do you use to fly a Helo ?

HOTAS (stick, throttle), and pedals. Purists may reverse the z-axis (throttle), do adress the collective.

EECH looks okay, but the "flightmodel" is arcade.

Check the videos and previews for Blackshark at simHQ - now THAT promises to become a sim.

P.S. Available at youtube as well. check these:

I wouldn't call it arcade. In fact I haven't seen a sim yet that models a helos flight model correctly.

EECH isn't that bad of an FM really.....

Blackshark actually looks rubbish. Pretty for sure but I think it will be a big let down.

Ok its decided, I just love the way Xabbarus says the word "Rubbish"

I wouldn't call it arcade. In fact I haven't seen a sim yet that models a helos flight model correctly....One word - X-Plane. Only real Helo flight you are going to get since it is based on mathmatical models of airflow over surfaces as taken by NASA, instead of a fake model as found in FlightSim X for example. Flightsim X uses a fake model in that they take into account airspeed and what the aircraft is supposed to do in a given situation.

XPlane will instead compute airflow over the rotor blades as it moves through the air at multple different points. If a rotor blade point stalls in a given flight regime, that is taken into account and computed on the effect of the flight itself.

The downside to X-Planes method - to get proper airflow calculation, you must maintain a certain number of FPS. FPS is not an issue with Flightsim X, but its critical to get a proper flight model out of X-Plane. Drop below a certain FPS, and your flightmodel in X-Plane will drop back to a fake one as found in Flightsim X.

Any chance of some links to these mods? I've downloaded the "Full Mod Updater V3" from FileFront, is that what you're suggesting?

Also keep a look out for a new sim DCS: Black Shark due out later this year (or early next) which stars the KA-50 but will add other platforms later (AH-64). I've not done any testing, but read reports that the flight model should be realistic enough that I'll crash a lot :rotfl:
