Just got off the phone with Sailor Steve.

Was SHOCKED that he called me.

We, via PM, exchanged phone numbers and had one heck of a nice talk.

Like to suggest a CHEAPER mode of commnicating - Team Speak !!! it is FREE!

The owners of subsim need to deal with this ASAP.

you need a mic or headset to get started after you get the client version of Team Speak without typing.

Things I see needed:

#1 Need to setup a Team Speak server with the SubSim community
#2 an admin to monitor to kick off the jerks
#3 all you need is a mic and/or headset

I can "host" #1 if need be, just to get us started.

The days of "text" chatting are for the birds. Team Speak let's you express you feelings for "free" via voice.

There very few TS out there that are good, I'll give you guys the ones I know. Although I have bad hearing, I do try my best to talk on TS with friends.

The problem with voice communications is that it is too fast. It does not give people enough time to get a hold of their emotions.

We have people on these boards who have problems controlling their emotions, in some threads, despite the fact that they have to take the time to type their emotional responses.

Imagine these people with the capability of instant communication via voice?

I can't tell you the number of times I have written a long response to a poster, re-read my comments, decided that my comments would either be misinterpreted or would not add anything positive to the conversation, and then deleted them without posting.

You can't do that with voice communication (clearly some don't do that even with text communication but that is a different issue)

Also with voice communication, it is too easy to misquote people in the heat of the argument...uh I mean discussion. Then it becomes a "you said, no I didn't" and the discussion go nowhere.

Voice communication sure has its advantages in the right circumstances. A blog that can have a life of days/weeks is not one of them.

I have been at your TS server numerous times. The main problem is the time zone differences. Normally, I stay away from the computer until 6 pm my time [U.S. Central] to either get work done or doing honey do's around the house. Unfortunately that is midnight your time and everyone goes to sleep for obvious reasons and there is virtually no one there when I go online.

I got 2-3 extra PCs around the house. I took one and slapped a copy of Ubuntu 8.04 on it and dabbled with it last week. Very intereseting for "free". Beat my brains out for days to get that version of Ubuntu box to "see" Windows shares. Finally won that battle. Ironically, my 3 Windows PCs [Vista] had no problem "seeing" the Ubuntu shares. Hooked up 2 old, junky PC's using Ubuntu to the two TV's via S-video jacks. They now connect to my Windows Home Server [ http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/windowshomeserver/default.mspx ] and let me watch thousand's of movies and documentaries that I have on it.

I think I will grab the third one and dedicate it as TS server and see what happens.

I can see your point, but, with a pool of good/fair admins with kicking/banning rights this can be totally avoided.

I am busy Sunday and Monday setting up a Microsoft Small Business Server out-of-state and have no time to set it up [TS]. Looks like I might get it up on Tuesday and see what happens.

I was all excited about the voice chat until I read that. Those are some good points. Plus I'm a bigger idiot in person.

I don't know if I want to hear some of these guys on here that close in my ear.

The prince of the power of the air comes to mind, plus no moderator could get interesting with some of the more verbal words you could hear.

You can't say her *#* is hot**** and get away with it in a thread, but it could be missed with head phones only.

Glad you got to talk with Steve ... hey Monica!

You are a girl right?

Cause the last time salior steve took me out ... he couldn't keep his hands off of me ... :rotfl:

Yea, I am girl.

His hands are tied when he's around me.

Will try to get a U.S. based Team Speak Server up and going on Tuesday, 7/22/08.

Looking for 4-8 people spread across the 4 U.S. time zones to act as admins.

Send me a PM if you have an interest in this.

Yep i use Teamspeak but for online gaming. Which can get quite hilarious, once in Wow we asked for a tank to join our party for a raid (A tank is a warrior class hes up front pulling the mobs), anyway this young fella joins us were about an hour into the raid where we start losing quite badly and the guy starts crying:rotfl: he took it quite serious . We all laughed and then kicked him of teamspeak. Wonder if hes ok:lol: .

You brutes, so un-kind, everyone cries, ONCE.

I did around 1984, saw a close cousin die of brain cancer @ 28 years old, then. Was fine through the entire process. But when I got into our car at the church to take the ride to the cementary, I broke down. That was the last time.

Shame on you getting a kid to cry online in Team Speak.

Shame on you guys.

WTF!? HE was crying over a game, not only that but he was screaming/swearing his head off and i could tell you we put up with him for long while before we decided to kick him, we asked him to calm down offered if he wanted to leave the party.

At least we never gave him a hard time apart from laughing. Some hardcore players in wow would of told him off and never let him forget it everytime he came on.

This had nothing to do with cancer this was a screaming kid upset and crying. He had to go man!:yep:

Been there, done that, was in the SAME position about 2 years ago. I understand your point now. Sorry to give you a hard time.

My apologies. I BOW to your well taken point.

Being a FAIR admin on ANYTHING on the net is a tough job [i.e. deciding when a player has to go "away" for the good of the "ALL"].

WoW players turn me off because of their secondary passion and are kinda complete weirdo's as seen here:

I find myself doing that a lot when reading/responding to posts here, not so much elsewhere.

Aye, I can confirm that. It was very awkward, because I kept begging for food and markin' my turf.

I'll be playing a World War II game online, and maybe these people are probably 20-40 year olds and they are screaming that they died in a war game. It is lame..you're suppose to die in a war game, no reason to get mad over it! Just games, grow up people!
