View Full Version : Gas bills will go up in the UK
No point saying they may go up to £1000 a year they bloody well will go up to £1000 a year, mark my words this will happen.
Gas bills 'to top £1,000 a year'
Energy bills could rise by more than 60% within the next few years, a report for the UK's biggest domestic energy supplier Centrica has said.

 Umm, safe bet! Everything derived from fossil fuels will continue to sky rocket.
Every bill is going up.
Currently gas prices are linked to oil prices.
However, whilst the known supply of oil has hit it's peak, gas is a long, long way
off it's peak. As this change becomes more apperant we can expect to see a
de-linking of the two.

I guess with all this global warming, this won't matter as we will all be toasty this winter. :know:

It's a scare tactic. For some reason and it shouldn't Gas prices track oil prices which is daft.
70% increase, in what time frame? I thing there is gouging going on and this is a ground preparer.
Gas will go up but not that much in a year. So if it only goes up 30% next year the gas companies will look good.
I wouldn't start panicking just yet. There is plenty of gas.

Slowly heading back to the bad times when so many people resorted to 'meter tampering' :nope:
What I don't like is the fact are gas storage down south is small so we give our gas to the French who can store it at a charge which is find but here is the key issue, when we want it back we are charged again and double at that. Fortunately we are building bigger storage sites and lets hope they are big.
From the Daily Mail:
A gas firm boss faced a heated backlash yesterday after telling families struggling with soaring fuel bills to 'wear two jumpers'.
Jake Ulrich of Centrica - the parent company of British Gas - was attacked for his 'flippant' and 'out of touch' remarks.
The 55-year-old, who earns more than £1million a year, was accused of having no sympathy with his cash-strapped customers. His firm warned yesterday that gas bills could rise to more than £1,000 a year by 2010.
I saw this on the TV News and yet again just shows you how out of touch the rich are or should I say how much they don't give a toss about the every day person. :nope:

@jim
I think it most offensive against pensioners, wearing two jumpers is not going to stay off hypothermia which pensioners suffer from. As at that age regulating there body heat is a lot harder. Pensioners need heat which that swine seems not to comprehend. :nope:

The remark might be flippant but what else can be done.
To be fair I don't think Jan can control the price of gas any more than you or I can.
I know it hurts to see a guy like that on £1 million a year but how do you know he doesn't deserve it.
Besides I have read in 3 different publications that the report said 70%, then 50%, and finally 60%. so which is it. Looks like three different reports.
Sad fact is if you want to save money then we have to use less and that means an extra jumper. It's fine ranting and raving but it won't do any good. I am all electric but get hit as hard if not worse..

Have a word with your cousin Gordon and tell him to raise the winter fuel allowance then.
