The Hotel of Doom (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080717/lf_nm_life/korea_north_hotel_dc) (very impressive, ain't it? NOT!):rotfl:

I'm sure some of you know the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang.

At first glance it looks like a spaceship or another monument to the Dear Leader.

I'm not a architect but this building is, shall we say, is reminiscent of the paintings and depictions of HELL or those spiky mountains in evil settings.

Here's another article stating the largest fake of North Korea. Obviously they want to keep this embarassment on the wraps so they Photoshopped the official pics so they don't get ridiculed.:rotfl:
Plus it includes a bootleg video of the hotel and a hilarious "concept" of the building's future.:arrgh!:

Here's a site I found with 3d images of the buiding: [URL="http://Ryugyong.org"]Ryugyong.org (http://www.esquire.com/the-side/DESIGN/worst-hotel-ever-012808)

I would not say it is the worst design for I have seen some pretty ugly buildings. I do think it is a tremendous waste of money in a country that is starving. Exactly who will be staying in this hotel when it is completed?

When it is finished, I don't think it will ever be able to pay for itself. I just don't think there are too many times where there will be 3,000 people able to afford the hotel room.

If they were smart, they would turn it in to a public housing project. At least the building will do some good.

This is North Korea we're talking about, they'd rather spend their money on huge monuments to the "Great Leader" than on such puny matters as food

I think it looks great. One of the best looking tall buildings ever. They should finish it.

You'll probably find that the top swivels off and that it's actually a launcher for one of their Typodonkey missiles, which of course will then promptly ditch in the Japanese sea.

I don't find it that ugly, it's different than the classic "box" design

It kinda reminds me of something like Temple Prime from Command and Conquer actually ;).

I think it is N Korea trying to better themselves, and all the power to them if they suceed! Look at it as an image for the populace to do great things! This is as long as those great things doesn't involve war.

There's a lot of "interesting" architecture going up around the world. Some here I'd consider uglier than the Ryugyong Hotel.

If that's the Building I'm thinking it is , I'm pretty sure I saw a news story about it awhile ago being so shoddily built that it's too dangerous to actually send workers in to finish it:o

Rumor has it that they landed years ago, made contact with the locals and after that commited suicide. The remnants of that starship can be seen here (http://media.photobucket.com/image/eifell%20tower/jxpx82/France%20-%20Paris/Tower.jpg?o=19)!
