View Full Version : U-Boat ace in colour
Ahoy there subsimmers.
Stumbled across a cool little tool today. While not really SH3 related I feel you may enjoy being able to turn your black and white WW2 U-Boat pictures into colourful masterpieces.
Its called Recolored and it basically converts black and white images into coloured ones.
For example here is a certain U-Boat Kaluen you may be familiar with, converted into technicolour glory and slightly photoshopped by me.
(Apologies for the slight inaccuracy of the positioning of the gold on the cap. I am rather tired and I did the image quickly as a demonstration)

While the results arent entirely perfect, I think they have a certain charm and resemble oil paintings at times.
A simple google of "Recolored" will result in a website where you can download the tool for free.
So what are you waiting for? Get downloading and feel free to post your favorite images (recoloured of course :] ).

Wow, that's fantastic Rob, are you saying that was an actual black and white picture? I must say the colouring has been done beautifully. If you'd tell me the original was in colour, I'd believe it too!
Thanks for sharing!
I've posted your picture below, for people lazy enough to ignore links
Btw, could you send the original aswell?

Thanks man. I have heaps of black n white images that could do with a color facelift.
Haha!
Wicked little tool isnt it?
Both those images look really good guys.
However, sometimes it does depend on the brightness of the image. The darker ones tend to come out alot more impressive.
And Frank0001 here is the original:

Post more coloured pictures guys!

I've been at this for literally hours and can't get anywhere close to the quality in the above pictures... I'm following the tutorial provided which says I have to outline absolutely everything I want in the colours I want.. yet it doesn't even compare. Is that how you guys did it?

This program is brilliant, thank you
Here's one I did, it's a picture of USS Enterprise in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons (Not a U-Boat, but eh...)
