As a general rule of thumb, most "mobile" graphics chips aren't designed for demanding 3d apps. like games. There are some exceptions, but those are normally special built laptops, alienware being a good example. If you wanna post the specific model, I or someone else will certainly take a look and be of better assisstance. (Although not til tommorow for it's 4am EST :dead:)

Lynx is right, chances are if it isn't a specially built "GAMING" laptop it will struggle with the game I'm afraid..

I totally disagree with the above posts.

I have a HP Pavillion Altec 17"

Intel DuoCore

2 gigs of ram

NiVidia 7600 gs vid cars

120 gig x 2 hdd

It plays SH-4 with TMO ,RSRD and an assortment of mods.

All slider maxed and most options clicked and Res running at 1152x ??? My preference. Will run higher Res just fine.

Off the shelf for $1400.00 US.

That's BS about needing a MEGA buck Laptop to play SH-4

I guess that would depend on a persons definition of mega-bucks. $1400 is megabucks to a lot of folks (myself included). Hell , some days, 14 bucks is megabucks:rotfl:

Hi DT :) All I'm saying is you / he don't need a Gazillion dollar Alienware type laptop to play SH-4 cranked and modded up like those posts were implying.

There's alot of members playing useing laptops just fine.:yep:

That I can agree with:DJust have to know what you're getting, what it will do and what limits you have to set on in-game graphics.

haha, i like da comment of 14 bucks is mega bucks sometimes, haha, that implies for me on some days...anyways was just wondering with a laptop what would u recommend for graphics card and processor speed for SH4?:hmm:

$1400....I have close that in my CPU.....

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650
Intel DX48BT Motherboard
Thermaltake Bigwater 780e Cooling system (with some minor homemade modification)
XFX GF 9800 1GB DDR3
Corsair TwinX PC 12800 DDR3 (2 x2048)
WD Raptor Series SATA 300GB (2x)
Logitech 5500 THx Certified (Maybe not a required component but I enjoy it the most)

And yes I'll agree that most laptops will run SH4 and a 1400 dollar one should run it very well, my prior posts were on the assumption that most people who buy a new PC will want to play more then just SH4 and as good as a laptop might run SH4, it aint gonna touch Crysis or Call of Duty 4 at least not to a playable standard in my book.

I can't recommend any specific laptop but find one that has atleast a 8600M GS/GT or maybe even a 8800M GTS/GTX and a good CPU (I prefer Intel althought I currently have an AMD TL-60). That combined with 3-4 GBs of RAM and you're good to go.

1400 Dollares is megabucks in my opinion BUT when you're buying a laptop you really don't want to be too cheapy because it might come back kicking your butt when you're least expecting it.
I got my current laptop for 999$ discounted price and no regrets although this specific model I have has been dissed so much in internetz discussions.

I've got a new Sony laptop. It will run SH3 but not SH4. I think the graphics is the problem because it loads, shows menus, shows video intro, crashes on entering the actual game.

If it were a graphics problem you would either recieve a stop error, or the game would run at a single frame rate..or a bad rip.
