A man with three buttocks
OK will all know what it is moving on, what is it about Monty Python you like?
Yes it's dated as you can see from the out door sketches but for me MP really as passes the test of time where so many others have fallen to the way side. MP still is today as funny as it ever was and puts a lot of comedy today to shame.
I have every episode on DVD. It's great!
My favorite sketch is the Ministry of Silly Walks. :rotfl:

The writing, natch. Gilliam's animations. The Cheese Shop. The characters that the guys liked to play; spivs, pepperpots, policemen. Sketches without punchlines. Sketches without endings.
ahhh
Sketches without endings.
Now that is classic MP only they could get up and walkout of a sketch. :yep:

Well...where to start?
The simple humour of it all. No explanation needed. Some things are very clever, some of them are just so simple it can be. Example:

Another thing I like with the Pythons is how they turn rather grim or normal situations silly, but the people in the scene doesn't appear to think that something weird is going on.
Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grbSQ6O6kbs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIAdHEwiAy8
And ofcourse, the improvised stuff:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPGb4STRfKw&feature=related
Indeed, that scene is mostly improvised. The guards (non Pythons, as you may notice), where told to try not to laugh, but if they would crack up, then they had to stay in character. You can see how Palin makes up the name "Incontinentia Buttocks", and you can even see him grin after saying it out loud.:rotfl:

NONE shall pass .
Don't forget the Bridge of Death and the Bunny Rabbit.
Just what is the air speed velocity of an European Barn Swallow at 3,000 feet? And what [B]IS your favorite color?:D
That movie needs to reside just next to the Ten Commandments as a classic.

Steed has wisely chosen not to stand up. But unfortunately for Steed we're able to see his secret location by the trail of beer bottles to his hiding spot:()1: behind the couch.

A somewhat decent example of the sanity of Python comedy writing - The Cheese Shop Sketch.
Eric called this "one of John and Graham's dictionary sketches", and you can see what he means. It reads as a hysterically funny encyclopedia.
When you consider it, it's a very simple setup. Man wants to buy some cheese. There isn't any. End of sketch.
