hi,

A couple of days ago, I meet in CG48(in april 1943) my first big Cunard ship.
44 000 t in 2 torpedos that was great.
Near the first schip there was a second also easy to sunk.

I don't understand why these two ships was so slow(1 knt, half submerged) and why 2 ships alone so far on the rear of a convoy.
Is it a little present offered by the GWX team ?

And another question: what is this anouced as a "big convoy" ?

I have encountered what appeared to be "stragglers" in a convoy before but never so lucky to get a large liner like those. The big ones do seem to be easy to sink though don't they? Especially when you have some knackered little coastal freighter that won't sink with just one torpedo.

I ran into convoys with the circle icon as well. The only difference I can see from any normal convoy is that they seem to contain troop transports.

Or a "wolf pack" maybe ??

Is that liner in GWX 2.1 ?
The LUS in GWX FrenchNames file LUS=HMT Aquitania

Or one you added

The second is a convoy being shadowed by a uboat so the radio reports are coming from the sub

Ah ok thanks.
Very interesting.
In fact, I saw later a convoy who was attacked(some ships in flame) but no U-boat anywhere.

(And it was on GWX 1.3 not on 2.1)

That means they were probably attacked by aircraft or U-boats (depending on year for air coverage) and if it was U-boats, they were probably destroyed.

Chisum, this is probably the answer to your 1kt half submerged question.
VonDos found a bug.
ATTENTION!! A bug has been found in 3 my ships: QM, EoB and Rex; sometime they can be seen stopped and half sunk on them route. I'm working on this problem, please be patient. Others units aren't affected by this; in Queen Mary, Empress and Rex have been fixed; if you have the old version, please upgrade to the FIXED!

He fixed them and they are available for download from his shipyard.

Hi!
I've see the images in this thread; the Cunard you sink wasn't my Aquitania (see the original deck line and different funnels and pipes form and position); it's original GWX Aquitania by UBOAT234.
My Aquitania is a "fixed" and overworked version of her; you can see her in my shipyard: try her, if you want, and make me know if all work OK ^_^

Your sunked liner:

Ooh that looks great, you're a real Wizard there VonDos

And nice job on your kill there Chisum, that must rack your tonnage tally nicely! I've never had the pleasure of seeing an ocean liner at full sea (I usually have to sneak in ports for that), let alone meeting one at 1kts and probably needing 1 88mm shell below the sea level!

Wow !
Many thanks !!
And thank to VonDos too !!
;)

PS: is that means I must include your (wonderfull) mode or there is a fix for the actual Cunard ships present in GWX 1.3 ?

VonDos

I don't think someone has developed a fix for the actual ship.

Ok thank you.
I don't understand where I must install the Data folder of the Zip, in SH3 Main folder or in the Data Folder of SH3 ?
:-?
Sorry, I'm getting old and I'm so used by so many hours in the deepth lol.

PS: after install, when I'll be in the game, how could I watch your Cunard Ship easely without expecting a lucky day ?

Hi!
For install just copy the "data" folder contents in your SH3 data folder, where "sea" and "roster" are located. You must respect the game structure for install ships

For see her, you've 3 methods:

1) wait lucky days :damn: :nope:
2) create a single mission with mission editor :hmm: :yep:
3) pay a ticket and go to museum :smug: :rotfl:

You've the power ^_^ let's choose

I plan to take a look at this problem and possibly release a fix for the standard GWX Cunard liner (not the beautiful mod from VonDos which is either already fixed or is in the process of being fixed).

I ran a test with the standard GWX unit. At slow speeds, ship takes on water, props stop working, and then eventually sinks. Haven't tested yet on higher speeds.

Large Passenger Ship also seems to have this problem.

Thanks in advance and also thanks to VonDos for explain.

PS: what is it "Racerboy_SH4_Effects_For_SH3_2_02" ?

Hi Subtype Zero!
For my RMS Aquitania i've modified the displacement and draft data into nlus .sim file.
Every time tested, with every test-done condition, she works well.
If this idea can be used..

I'm going to mountains for 10 days; bye!

VonDos--
With your permission, I will start my experiments on the Cunard liner by using your modifications. Let me know if you have any objections.

I ran some early pre-mod experiments and found that both the NLUS and the Passenger/Large Troopship tend to founder and sink at slower speeds. They also sink at higher speeds, but the faster they go, the less likely they are to sink. At speeds of less than 8 knots, they are almost guaranteed to sink. At 18 knots, they sink within 6 hours about 1/3 to 1/2 of the time.

More info later. Have a good vacation!

Hi,

Finally it works.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/7448/qm1ix0.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=qm1ix0.jpg)

Due my incapacity to create a single mission, I use an existing mission and add the QM(was fun to watch the Scharnhorst battle with the Queen Mary in the no mans land !).
I don't understand why, but after a short time she had desapears...

Anyway I saw it and she is wonderfull.
Thank you all.

;)

I've just about finished reworking the .sim files for the Cunard passenger liner and the Ocean Liner/Large Troopship and am ready to add them to my SinkingShipFix mod. Hopefully, these ships should no longer slowly come to a stop and sink when undamaged. Please note that my changes do not alter the graphics of any ship in the game, just the "mass" value and sometimes the "gc_height" value in the .sim file so the ship is less likely to take on water in high seas.

This mod is designed to replace the .sim files of the selected ships in both 1.4b and GWX 2.1, but should work with any mod.

Thank you VonDos for kindly allowing me to use your .sim file for the Cunard passenger liner as a starting point for this mod.

Happy hunting!
