I bought SH4 off of Steam the other day, and I recently noticed it's only version 1.3. I went online and found patch 1.4, but when I tried installing it, it said SH4 was not installed on my computer. I loaded up SH4 again and it is without a doubt installed. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

correct me if I'm wrong but part of steam is an anti piracy system that doesn't allow you to install mods

Steam is...Steam

As for the patch, don't you need a special Steam-patch?

It means the Steam version of SH4 doesn't include the original installer, so there are registry keys that don't get to be "installed" and the 1.4 installer has nothing to find to validate the installation.

Is there any chance of the Dev's releasing a JSGME compatible "mod" to bypass the registry problems for our Steam friends?

p.s. you can download mods on any Steam game, and there are plenty mods out there.

If you're handy with the registry editor and know what registry keys to add, you could do what steams installer doesn't do. I'm not sure what the legal ramifications are of someone supplying you with a registry file to add to your registry that would point the patch installer to the correct install directory, but that is a possibility also.

If you are eventually going to get the uboat upgrade, that is available on Steam and would alleviate the need for the 1.4 patch, since it is a cumulative patch.

The first thing I would do is contact steam and request a "steam compatible" 1.4 patch. I didn't see anything about one on their site, but they may have something "up their sleeve".

Alright, I just bought the U-Boat add-on and brought it to v1.5. I was a little reluctant though since I already have SH3 and didn't want to pay for basically the same game. Oh well.
