Mysterious Smoke

Not quite sure what this is....it happen every time I load any save mid-patrol.

Anyone have anything similar.

You are being followed by a uboat with the snorkel up. That is the diesel exhaust. It should go away whey you reload the game. Strange game glitch. I have experienced this before. Not sure what causes it.

Edit: If that was a sub....kinda scary, I'm guessing snorkel is uboat only.....and why didn't I hear him if he's running on diesel. I'm sure your right, not questioning you at all. I guess what I'm trying to say is....was there a submarine following me and when I reloaded it glitched...or did I just see the smoke and there never was Uboat.

Also, Do any of the planes drop homing torpedos....??

I've had that happen before, also loading mid-patrol. Even mentioned it in a 'patrol log' email I sent to a buddy.

Didn't know it was a bug, actually, thought it was where I'd sank a ship and it was just lingering.

This has happened to me quite a bit. I then started not saving whenever any smoke was on the screen, as from a sinking ship. Since doing so, haven't seen the problem.

Just before you saved your game were you watching something sink? I've had that happen to me before. Sink something, save whilst its going under and then reload to continue at a later date and you dont get the ship, just a patch of smoke.

Shouldn't matter, doesn't seem to affect the game at all.

I seem to remember that when it was discovered, Werner said that the smoke didn't need to have a cause. It would just spontaneously appear and follow you to the gates of hell. I don't think anyone ever determined whether the enemy could detect you by seeing the column of smoke.
