Really ? Did anyone actually think there would be a fair election that wasn't fixed or one where oppenents were threatened with death until they withdrew from the campaign ? No surprise at all. :nope:

The bit that got me was the election committee saying he had Won by a Landslide.

It's tough when you're running for an office and your opposition is holding you at gunpoint, your family hostage, and stationing armed soldiers loyal to him in the polls to arrest and shoot anyone voting for you. :nope:

There should be a TV drama/comedy about that... "The Adventures of Black Hitler"...:hmm:

He's what, 84? Time ain't something he has a lot of I think. I wonder if there is an heir apparent or if his regime will likely die with him.

I really think he's delusional. Plus his inner circle is telling him things he wants to hear, not what's really happening.
The whole country is a mess. Inflation is over an astronomical figure of 1,000,000% Officially the government says inflation is 165,000%, which is still a record. They had to print Z$500,000,000 notes - and that's after lopping off three zeroes from their currency recently.
Life expectancy is one of the lowest on the continent, about 40 yrs. Four out of every 5 are unemployed. Zimbabwe's dollar is virtually worthless. One U.S. dollar was worth Z$11 billion this week compared with Z$6 billion a week ago. On the black market 1 dollar is worth Z$17 billion.
With all this happening, how can any reasonably competent leader NOT be cognizant of the situation? All he does is blame the west, in particular US & UK.

Yeah! If you didn't vote for him, you wound up in a landslide. It was an election worthy of Saddam Hussein. Still, some 300,000 people total either voted for Tsvingarai or defaced their ballots. To me, the biggest enabler is Thabo Mbeki. All South Africa has to do is cut off transport links and electrical power to Zimbabwe and Mugabe would have no income other than what he can beat out of his peasants. He may have been the guiding force in the liberation struggle but anyone who had followed his career could have called this end from his first statements after being elected President 30 years ago.
To me there is no greater contrast than comparing Uncle Bob Mugabe to his counterpart in struggle, Nelson Mandela, after watching the 46664 concert from London and how fortunate South Africa was to have someone of iron integrity like Mandela.
Because, let's face it. We are ALL the Scatterlings of Africa:

Perhaps I should let you guys know. It boils my blood when these animals brutalise their own people. What sickens me more is that- where's the world's voices? Some UN people, Britain and the US have voiced theirs but what about the African Union? I thought the UN was brought about to stop what happened in WW2 but it seems that genocide is going unchecked.

It seems to me that UN interference is a lot like a gun ban - it mainly affects those who are willing to be affected in the first place. Everyone else just ignores it.

Well said Steve. I always thought the UN is a BIG waste of time and resources and wonder why the US gives them tons of money. Mugabe is a Black Hitler (again well titled). I give the opposition credit for standing up to violence and brutality. They got some balls and have my respect. It's not easy to voice dissent in the face of a gun.
