View Full Version : Just bought Pacific Storm - Need help geting game to launch
I just bought Pacific Storm, but can't seem to get the game to launch.
Installation was no problem. When double clicking the desk top launch icon, it brings me to the configuration interface. When I click "OK", the window closes and nothing happens. I tried different configuration settings with no luck.
I am running a Vista PC in administrator mode. My PC meets all system specs.
Anyone had this problem? Any ideas?

I think it has starforce on it, which I hear has issues with vista. That is just a guess though.

I checked some sites...
It's not protected by Starforce! Ain't it glorious?
But I read some reviews from IGN and Gamespot that Pacific Storm has some really bad bugs: It lags severely on XP.
Maybe Vista doesn't support it?

I was thinking it might be a starforce issue, because the game is made in Russia, and they like starforce:dead:
It looks like the Pacific Storm 1.6 Patch solves the launching problem with Vista. No problems now, and no crashes in about 3 hours of game play. It looks to be a great game.

Pacific Storm is a really nice game if you can get around the bugs (Though the game has some horrible translations issues)

That game wanted so much to impress everyone by doing everything and accomplished nothing. Really? I think the biggest problem with the game was everything not the strategic interface. I honestly didn't mind the Strategy part of the game because while it was AMAZINGLY unintuitive, it WAS detailed. The tactical interface and sim aspects were completely broken. The individual unit AI is only passable and watching BBs turn like tanks makes me laugh. Hasn't anyone heard of a rudder here? The air combat had a chance but ends up being stupid Blazing Angels nonsense. Bah BAH!
I've always thought that the best way to do a game like this would be to take Pacific Storm's strategic interface and soften it up a bit, take Battlestations Midway's tactical map and multi unit control interface and real it up a little, and take Silent Hunter's first person direct unit control and get rid of the bugs, and viola, One Naval Game to Rule them All.
