Are you trying to patch 1.0 or any previous version to 1.4b?
If you are, it really says 1.3 but in reality the 1.4b patch is the actual patch.

No, Just 1.4b US. "unkown version" is the response I get.

There are different versions of SH3...

US version and the EMEA version

Be sure you downloaded the correct patch version for your copy!

Did you just buy the game? Newer copies are already patched. The patch sees that and says "Huh?"

The probelm I'm having is that the game freezes at the screen where you choose which type of game you want to play. I've upgraded my drivers for The 8800GTX. And Direct X-version 9C. But so far nothing happens. Any ideas as to what to do next?

Do you get to see the screen with the choices ?
And then freezes ?
