Aft tubes

Hi All!
I have been having a great time using the O'Kane method of sinking ships in bad weather with the forward torpedo tubes which dont seem to mind not having a firing solution and will fire straight out. The aft tubes seem to need some kind of firing sultion in order to fire. I get the message that the firing solution is incomplete or something of the sort. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Out the stern tubes you have to set your shoot bearing at 180 +- the lead angle, not zero +- the lead angle. If you try to shoot a torpedo woth more than a 120º gyro it won't fire.

That's what the game is all about: having fun! I enjoy taking something as intimidating as manual targeting and making it both easy and fun.

I use the O Kane method a lot. Not sure why but 95% of my contacts are in the dead of night so forget about IDing the ship. As long as you have the speed and know which way the target is approaching from you're good to go. I have yet to miss with ANY torpedoes using this method.

When I get a contact at night I usually do an end run and stay just far enough ahead to remain undetected. I pull the plug for attack as dawn breaks.

My tactic with convoys is to find the convoy in the daytime (ideally, you have to take 'em when you get 'em) and shadow it until evening. Just at sunset, I try my first attack, from the side with the fewest escorts. My aim is to take out the largest target in the swarm. If they are up-sun from me I'll try a surface attack, decks awash.

Two things can happen: I sink the target, or I am sighted and driven off by escorts, who swarm after me, messing up their station keeping on the convoy. My aim is to break free and do an end around to the opposite side of the convoy because the escorts have left to look for me.

Rinse and repeat all night.
