You seriously want me to blindly guess at this one, don't you?
I'm not using your reference book, I read the damn tail numbers...
Your eyesight is much better than mine....I'm struggling to read the Dornier one

True, but I wouldn't judge based only on the landing gear, after all, many planes have that sort of landing gear

Hmm, nothing looked special about them at first, but now that I think about it, most bomber's landing gear DO look different...

Avro Lincoln with a Napier Naiad or Tyne turboprop in the nose. Serial number RE530. Could also be Aircraft SX973 with a Nomad turboprop.Quoted from where I got the shot:
7th September 1948: An Avro Lincoln on display at the Farnborough Air Show. It is a heavy bomber, and has an experimental turbo propeller engine fitted in its nose. Sorry don't have any more info on which turboprop it was nor the rego number.
Great spotting though Xabba!

Thanks for the links. I haven't read about that plane in years. I think the last time I saw any specifications for it was at least 6 years ago, in a Jane's Aircraft Encyclopedia.
Just for laughs, I though I'd include this link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZw4qiF5ytk
WARNING: It is done in crazy-style Japanese animation.! Complete with Engrish!:D
Note that the Cherry Blossom pilot and the Americans are the only ones who don't look like monkeys. Japanese culture fascinates me to no end, probably because I don't understand most of it. Could that be because of the huge difference in language style? Or is it something else?
In any case, I found that video by accident while looking for footage of Focke-Wulf Ta-152 fighters. This is what I found during that search.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sOj2hxbSRM
No subtitles for that one, so I understand it even less.
But it made me think of something else. Why do the Japanese seem to love Nazis so much? Or at least, why are Nazis(and Nazi themes) so prevalent in Japanese Anime? I'm not about to watch animes to find the answer for myself, because I think I would have seizure, but I keep stumbling across youtube anime videos that are consistent with a nazi theme.
For that matter, what is the obsession in the U.S. with Rising Sun flags? I see that stuff alot on tricked-out "Rice-burners".
Well, whatever, it isn't my place to tell people not to display swastikas or imperial Japanese insignias.
I just wonder what the motivation is.:hmm:

Think you're right, the TU didn't have side engine exhaust.:hmm: Close though.
You all are wrong but Dowly is closest to the correct answer.

"The V-2 was also known by the name A-4. This A-4 was the next in the series of the A rockets, and it had a very sophisticated guidance and control system. One of the reasons they added this new control system was that the earlier A-3's control system was faulty and made the rockets a complete disaster. In order to test this new system, a smaller version of the A-4 was built, named the A-5. This A-5 would be a smaller version of the A-4 come with everything scaled down except for the engine, which came from the A-3."

Any other source? That just says it was smaller, yes, by 1m. :p And also, that it had A-3's engine, seeing how A-3 was almost 7 meters long, I dont think the engine would fit to a ~1.5-2 meter long rocket.
Here's a quote from another site
http://www.zamandayolculuk.com/cetinbal/V2RROCKET.htm
By 1936 the team had moved on from the A2 and started work on both the A3 and A4. The later was a full sized design with a range of about 175 kilometers (109 miles), a top altitude of 80 kilometers (50 miles), and a payload of about a tonne. It was clear that Von Braun's designs were turning into real weapons, and Dornberger moved the team from Kummersdorf (near Berlin) to a small town, Peenemünde, on the island of Usedom on Germany's Baltic coast , in order to provide more room for testing and better secrecy.
The A3 proved to be problematic, and a redesign was started as the A5. This version was completely reliable, and by 1941 the team had fired about seventy A5 rockets. The first A4 flew in March 1942, flying about a mile and crashing into the water. The second launch made it to seven miles in altitude before exploding. But the third rocket launched on October 3, 1942 changed things, when the rocket followed its trajectory perfectly and landed 120 miles away, and became the first man-made object to enter space as well as the first man-made machine to exceed the speed of sound.
I'm starting to think that's somekind of dummy rocket for to entertain the brass. I've tried to dig any info about that for most of the day and it's like it never existed. :-?
EDIT: Here's another pretty cool site about all of the versions of V2: http://www.astronautix.com/lvfam/v2.htm
EDIT2: And Hunter get's prize! *clap clap clap* :D
From the last link:
September 1939 - Peenemuende - (http://www.astronautix.com/sites/peeuende.htm). First A5 drop test. The model is dropped from a He-111 bomber from 7000 m. It breaks through the sound barrier at 1000 m altitude at a speed of 360 m/s. The stabilising fins keep the maximum oscillation of the model to within 5 degrees from vertical. The drogue ring parachute then deployed to decelerate the model to 100 m/s, followed by the main parachute which slows it to 5 m/s when it impacts in the ocean.
Ok last one for today, shouldn't be too hard....

What..you didnt think I did my homework on WW2 armament?
when I first saw that picture it made me think about some Mini-V2 like rocket.
I knew they could launch V-1's from an HE-111 shown here:

just needed to confirm myself on that by searching a bit and came out on that same website you posted.:p

Well teeeechnically, you're only partly correct. It wasnt THE A-5, but a miniature model of it. :p
