I have been going from nearby Guam in Sep 42 looking for merchants. They weren't around but saw numerous plans. I went nearby Japan. Same results. :damn: Any ideas why and what to do? I am playing stock 4.1 and have about five torps left. About ready to just head home and call it a patrol.

TIA!

No ships in stock?! Never heard that one before. :hmm:

Stick to the sealanes; The chain of islands and reefs starting south of Tokyo running to the Marianas (stay on the west) and the chain from the Japanese homelands to Formosa (stay to the south) always prove good hunting grounds for me. East China Sea is always good to hunt for taskforces.

Didn't get a map with your copy?

There's nothing wrong with the stock campain. I'm doing very well with it. When you are near enemy concentrations and bases, of COURSE they are activly patrolled by planes. The advise given to patrol on the surface after dark that early in the war is a good one. The ships don't go away at night and they are sitting ducks to you. When you get surface radar in a month or so (don't neglect visiting port between sep and dec) finding those convoys day and nigh becomes easier. You have to chase the enemy to where they are and use your advantages to negate the enemy's advantages.
