Hi,

I cannot install the game. Or to be more precise, install it in a way that it is playable. Bought the software-download version. When I install it, the game is at version is at 1.0. Upon start I finally, after the two movies and the splash screen (the one with the burning battleships and the planes with the red bar beyond them) I get into a menu which, in hardly readable print, offers me "Exit to Windows" as only option. On the right of it runs a movie with misc. Jap ships, the lower half of the screen is black.

When I patch the game to 1.4 it freezes after the aforementioned splash screen. The screen is just pitch black.

I did uninstall and re-install as adviced here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133290

However, strange thing is I don't have that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall{{0D005F09-A5F4-473B-A901-5735C6AF5628} key in my registry, just the Ubisoft folder, which I deleted each time. The game does not ask for the unblock key though, it did only during the very first install. I figure this info must still be in the registry despite my deleting the Ubisoft folder.(?)

My sys specs:

Dual core 3.6GhZ
1GB RAM
WinXP
RADEON X600 Pro

Help very much appreciated.

Thx,

askalex

Yes you need to run regedit or another program like Reg Cleaner to find the registry key. You can then delete the SH4 entry.

I had regedit search the whole registry, the key was not found. I don't think that's the problem though, I think it's graphics-related.

Have you installed any large codec packs and/or ffdshow? If yes, search the forum with "ffdshow" and you'll find several threads dealing with the problem.

edit: Oh yeah, you don't have to necessarily uninstall anything. Codec Tweak Tool is the way to go

Have you installed any large codec packs ...

Thx mate, you're a genius. I uninstalled a codec pack, rebooted and that did it. Games runs fine.
