Check it - what better place to put a wind farm than on top of skyscrapper and up in strong winds?

That looks like a pretty good idea.
Birds are pretty smart I am sure they will quickly learn not to fly into the giant egg beater.
Depending on the city, some of these can be placed to take full advantage of the man-made air currents between large buildings.
Also the turbines shown don't look all that ugly either.
My one-man jury is still out on micro-turbines.
It's a piss poor economy of scale.
After you have mined, smelted, manufactured, assembled, transported, errected and
maintained the mini-turbines and all their parts how long does it take until you have
more energy than you started with?
With such a low out-put to mass ratio on these things; it must be a few years at least.
Wind turbines either have to be small, but very simple and energy efficant to make or
very large if they are anything but eco-vanity instalations.

Nice find SUBMAN1.
I've been thinking about this for my summer home on Catalina Is.
Always a steady ocean breeze.
I always thought those things were huge.
Those look a more reasonable size.

4" tall including the gate on the top!
I miss Catalina. Used to fly out there as a kid in a Piper Tri-Pacer!

Walking throught the CBD here in Sydney always made me ask why nothing was done to caputre the wind the would travel throught these man made canyons. I wish they would put some of these on the buildings around town. A couple above parilment would solve any energy shortage as the place is full of hot air!
