View Full Version : GWX 2.1 Torpedoes Won't Reload

Hi, folks;
I'm baffled. Running GWX 2.1 and I have two forward tubes that show "torpedo waiting in queue for loading", but reloading isn't happening and there is no time estimate. I have auto-reload selected, plenty of crew in the compartment, they're not exhausted, I show a spare available for each tube, we're not running silent. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The possible explanations could only be:
1) Insufficient Crew
2) Auto-reload turned off
3) Set for Silent Running
But since you've knocked all those off the list I'm stumped...
Can you turn OFF auto-reload and attempt to manually reload them?
Stumps me, too. Try saving game, then close, check what your setting are and reload game.

Check the freen bar at the top of the compartment screen....your crew could be exhausted.

My game doesn't have a freen bar...is that a new mod?:rotfl:
Now that that's out of the way, how far over is the bar? Just because they're not showing exclamation marks doesn't mean they're not tired. How long have they been at their stations?

There's a status bar above each compartment where work can be done. Those bars represent the work state of the crew in each compartment. If the crew is too tired or you have too few crew in there, they won't load anything. Nothing will also be loaded if you set the sub to silent running. Also, make sure that Auto-Loading is unchecked on the "Weapons Management" screen. I will suspect you have one of these problems. I play SHIII with GWX 2.1 all the time and have had no problems with torpedo loading ever.

Hmm one of the mods (I assumed it was GWX 2.1) dispensed with the green bars, but you're saying that you can still see it in 2.1?

Yep. I can see them clear as day.

As I said, no exhaustion, no silent running, auto-load is set to
"on" and the compartment is fully-crewed. Even though the mysteriously never-loading tubes are in front, I crewed the aft tube compartment just to see if that had anything to do with it. I went to attack status to see if that helped. I tried it submerged; I tried it surfaced. I've been playing SH3 since it came out, and I'm stumped.
Thanks for all your replies.

I just stumbled over the same prob - last night i prepared an attack on a british torpedoboat, saved the game and went to bed - loaded the saved game 10 min ago, sink the target at periscopedepth, goto surface and check the weaponsscreen, no reloading in progress, just preperationpopupmsg by hovering with pointer over it - goto periscopedepth again - hit silentrunning - supend silentrunning - voila, :p loading in progress
seems the saving with an open tube cause it but thats a wild guess

It looks like you saved whilst submerged.
If that is the case.....your asking for all kinds of trouble.
As for an 'open tube' the torpedo doors close automatically after the torpedo is ejected from the tube.

All together now Never Never save the game when Submerged :D
I've heard that a lot on this forum, but I do it quite often. Maybe I've been lucky so far, I haven't had any problems.
I try to avoid it but it gets frustrating when you spend so much time making a submerged approach and the game crashes on you and you have to start over. Once I made a submerged approach, hit my target, and just after I surfaced to watch his death throes.....CTD. :damn:
I hadn't saved in a while and had to redo the approach.
Crashes don't happen very often but they occasionally do, so I try to save fairly often, even when submerged.

You know, I did save while submerged. Always have. If I spend two hours making an approach and get called away because my step-son wants me to watch him do this or that, I'm not going to lose those two hours; I'll save and take my chances. The only thing I've ever noticed that's a problem (or at least, use to be) was that if you saved after a successful attack, but before your target sank, you might not get credit for the sinking. Don't know if that's still the case.
I'm travelling for business right now, but when I'm home again, I'll try the suggestion of going to silent running and off again. Thanks!
Hi Bsalyers, just a question: are you using the new SH3 Commander??
If so, today i had the same problem after a DC attack on the bow quartier. I had all four torpedo tubes destroyed, but ANY damage to stern compartment. BUT, the 5th torpedo tube wasn't able to reload anymore in stern tube, iven if i had NOT damage reports there!!
So, if you have SH3commander, watch at the option "model effect" in SH3 menu and see if Malfuncions is turned on!
bye!

This bugs happens sometimes, its a bug if you are sailing for silent running or the opposite. Just put for silent mod and then take it off. It should work
