Some African countries like Americans even more than Americans like themselves, the United States' assistant secretary of state for Africa Jendayi Frazer said on Thursday.
Frazer was speaking in a debate on global partnerships at the World Economic Forum on Africa, underway in Cape Town.
She said the "Pew Foundation" — apparently a reference to the Washington-based Pew Research Centre — had done a global survey of attitudes towards the US "and in fact they were overwhelmingly positive".
"Some countries even like Americans more than Americans liked themselves: Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and others had 80 percent positive ratings. The average was about 70 percent," she said.

This is good news indeed as China has set her sights on becoming the dominant player here in Africa, given the continents mineral wealth. It has already bought its way into our neighbour Zimbabwe, supplying Mugabe arms and literally bankrolling his dictatorship.
Obama winning the White House will more than likely increase the love Africans have for America even more - which might be one concern China has of an Obama presidency.
