Hi Guys,
I just went out and bought SH4 today. I was right into SH2 and Destroyer command back in the day
Anyway I was just wanting some guidance in regards to mods. I have downloaded and installed patch 1.4 and I want to know if there are any MUST HAVE's to download.
Also is there a mod to let you sail a surface ship in any of the quick mission style patrols?
Thanks

I think if you go into the 'SH4 Mods Workshop (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=219) ' and read up on the mods available there, you can make a choice of several, There are surface ship mods but read the notes.
I am running
Sh4 + 1.5
NSM
Pacific Environment 3.3 + PE 3 patch
RFB 1.5
RSRD_RFB 1.5
Operation Monsun
OM patch 6
but there are equally good other mods ie Trigger Maru Overhauled v.1.5 which i run on my other HD
hope this helps

Hi Grand_Admiral,
I'm a pretty new player also and I'm running these mods:
RFB (latest for game version 1.5)
RSRDC plus patch 2
ROW Pacific Environments 3.3
Several add-on radio stations & gramophone colletions
With this game it also helps to turn realism options up to 100% - it's much less arcadey that way.
I recommend TMO and RSRDC. They compliment each other nicely.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies
The only thing I can't find is "1.5".... is this a patch or a mod version?
-- Edit* Nevermind I just found it
Thanks
I don't really know whether to recommend RFB or TMO, since there are things I like in both mods...
TMO is supposed to be more "cinematic" and RFB more "realistic". I use both on a regular basis depending on how I feel. RFB has some really nice features, although it also has some annoying ones. Your playing style will be very different using one or the other. I suppose you'll only know which one to use after you try them both extensively.
RSRDC is, quite simply, a necessity. It's a brilliant mod and there are no reasons not to use it.
RoW Pacific Environments is also a must have, as it does great things for immersion and overall graphic quality.
After those three (either TMO / RSRD / ROW or RFB / RSRD / ROW) I go for purely atmospheric mods, such as gramophone music and radio mods (I specially recommend CaptainMidnight's CBS mod, which I link here, as it is not on the first page of the mods section anymore) http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108756
Those are my must-haves. You will find that TMO / RFB, RSRD and ROW are essentially staple mods in this forum and most people use a combination of the three.

It's a patch but it's on a disk. It's actually 'Silent hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific' U-Boat Missions
I (in the UK) bought it at 'Games' store in Manchester, but I know the US guys can d/l it. the link is on the top of this forum page: So if you buy that you've got t
the 1.5 patch and it's well worth buying for all the perks it brings to the game. THEN look at the mods pages.
