After a bloody start of a year, with the possible death off all WW1 veterans looming above the horizon, here's finally some good news. Let us hope that he will see many more birthdays.

His many medals and honours include the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the Legion D'Honneur - the highest military accolade awarded by France.

He has joked that the secret to his longevity is "cigarettes, whisky and wild women".

He even survived all his children and saw six monarchs and certainly has seen quite a lot :o.

Personally i find the prospect of having another crappy 75 years in front of me rather ...
