If this kind of stuff were proposed 20 years ago, they would condem entire countries to the insane asylum!

What's it got to do with "political correctness"?

Do you seriously read the sun?

Is it for the unbiased and well informed opinions the Sun is renowned for or the reading age of 6 1/2?

And if you don't like "The Sun", how about your beloved BBC?

Hardly political correctness, more like a power trip, the kind we've all seen before.

Not limited to Europe either.

Airport security being excessive? NEVER!

I suspect it was more just jobsworthyness.

The airport guys have probably been told that they will get an instant dismissal if they
let anyone on a plane wearing images of guns.
If they exercise discretion they risk their job so it's easier for them to err on the side
of caution in case their boss gets arsey about it.

1) Management tell security to ban ALL images of guns because if they tell security to
use discretion then management will get the blame if there is a genuine incident.
2) Security don't use discretion because they have been told they will be responsible if
they do.
3) This happens.

It's a case of bad management, passing on responsibility and poor staff training.

In all honesty, if things work there any close to how they work in Spain, the security staff probably did it to bust that guy's balls because they were bored.

There are, though, many cases of what Letum mentions. Not long ago, a guy in Spain had to miss his flight because he wouldn't be allowed to go through the security control with his bow. Yes, a bow, an ancient piece of artisanship that had no string or arrows and was packed with bubblewrap, but alas, a bow is a weapon, and you can't bring weapons in a plane.

What really annoys me though is how psychosis affects the average traveler. So-called experts in security design a series of measures to prevent attacks. Then some guys try to blow up a plane with a liquid explosive, and all of a sudden the so-called experts jump and collectively yell "Oh crap it's true, explosives can also be in liquid form! Sorry ma'am, your medicine and your baby's bottle have to stay. The fish can go with you, but he'd better learn to swim in sand".

And I can't carry the round-pointed scissors I use to trim my beard, but first class passengers have metal cutlery. Well that's alright I guess, as we all know terrorists are poor...

This is ridiculous, regardless of the source's usual credibility. What in the name of **** is wrong with these people?

The same thing that makes school officials kick kids out of school because their mom packed a plastic knife in their lunchbox to spread the jelly on their sandwich: - A refusal to think, to apply judgement to a specific situation.

Hardly political correctness, more like a power trip, the kind we've all seen before....I disagree, since if you read the article, here is the reasoning and why the manager backed it up - the whole reason for the removal of the shirt:

..."If it's offensive, we don't want other passengers upset."

Do you seriously read the sun?Really.

:rotfl:

European political correctness, my ***. Subman1's lack of critical thinking when choosing topics for the threads he spams the forums with, rather. For your information, Subman1, I believe the US - which started the trend of excaggerated airport security - has as strict or stricter restrictions - wasn't a US kid stopped from boarding a plane for his Guns&Roses t-shirt?

Get a girlfriend, Subman.
