For You Experienced Skippers - Crew Performace

Since SH4 came out I have conducted hundreds of patrols in dozens of different boats, but I can't tell if promotions make any difference in boat performace vis-a-vis sailing speed, diving speed, gun accuracy, torpedo load times, etc.

Does anyone know definitively if crew promotions enhance performance?

Although I don't get out the stop watch every time I load a torp, man a gun, or dive, I suspect rank and medals is a benifit throughout the game. I mostly notice it in endurance. The higher ranked and medaled crew can work harder and longer, will fix things faster when damaged. This is why these crew member cost more in renoun. They are more valuable.

I have noticed that in the beginning of the war when surface search radar was not available that promotions and medals for the deck watch crew made a marked inprovement in spotting ships. I assume the same must hold true then for other departments.
