Is there anything, just something in the world you do not make a website about?

A next thing to come in general section forums will be "kitchen tips, and recipes".

Harleys? Nah, those are for people who want the image. I'm all about function and engineering. Plus, and no offense to Harley riders out there, H-D has become the Starbucks of motorcycles, IMO. :dead: Way overpriced for what you get and every Yuppie on the planet seems to have one.

Ha! If you only knew ;) Seriously, though, MC page isn't really a website, just a photo collection online for my MC buddies to read.

Actually, I do manage a kitchen cabinet website (http://www.cuttingedgeinnovations.biz/index.html), does that count? :rotfl:

40 mph with the wind in my hair BUT with traffic the way it is and the GA helmet
law (you MUST have one) makes that impossible.....Ohhhh Wellll !!!

Looks good, Neal! I'm still trying to get the money together to get my old '82 Kawi up and running again - I'm hoping to ride her down to the meet in October.

Harleys? Nah, those are for people who want the image. I'm all about function and engineering. Plus, and no offense to Harley riders out there, H-D has become the Starbucks of motorcycles, IMO. :dead: Way overpriced for what you get and every Yuppie on the planet seems to have one.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Harleys are heavy, slow and clunky, and don't even think about riding one across the country. They're to be seen and heard on, nothing more. "But mine goes to eleven."

A great quote from Neil Armstrong, which I saw on a TV show about rollercoasters, of all things: "The only things that compare to flying a jet fighter are a good rollercoaster and a good motorcycle."

And as for comparing bikes to women, I've always remembered this exchange from an old LA Law episode:
Harry Hamlin shows up riding a brand-new hog.
Susan Dey: "I've never seen you with something that powerful between your legs before."
Harry Hamlin: "That's because I've never been on top of anything this responsive before!"

UglyMowgli

She is French and Canadian and she lives in Edmonton.
She store the Suzuki in the house just to preserve it from the low temperature (-15/-20°C) during the winter and because if she had to pay for a stroage at the Suzuki dealer the price is too high for the service.

Four years and 47,000 miles later and I'm still smitten. Rode 250 miles today for BBQ.

Thanks a lot Neal! It is nice to see that you use your V-Strom for what it was made -> Touring .

47000 miles in for years is an really a feat ... i drove half of that in 12 years. The Busa is the same age as your bike i think (2008?) and has only ~3600 miles on it. Its owner was an older guy who exchanged her for the exact opposite - a VN800 Chopper.

I hope that my Suzuki is as reliable as yours, sadly i have to wait 2 weeks now before i can pick her up.

Ooooh! The Mighty Busa, nice!!! Wish I lived near you.You may try her during the next Euro Subsim meet. :yep:

They're basically re-designs of the MT07 and MT09 (known as the FZ07 and FZ09 in the US) to give it the sport heritage look which imo looks way better :yep: so yeah as you've said it they look great, especially in that colour.

One of my bikes, a rare and funky 1985 Suzuki Madura 1200, was making an odd ticking/scraping noise. Then I could see the coolant level was dropping while the engine oil was turning a chocolate brown color.

I thought: water pump bearing. I pulled the crankcase cover and saw something no man ever wants to see.

Yankee Busa Bros rejoice!
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (SMAI) has confirmed that U.S. market production of the Hayabusa sport motorcycle continues uninterrupted. Production of European specification Hayabusa models has been discontinued due to Euro 4 emission regulations. This situation, and resulting media reports, may have caused confusion and misunderstand among U.S. consumers, media, and dealers.

Commenting on the status of the iconic sports motorcycle, Kerry Graeber, Suzuki’s Vice President, MC/ATV Sales and Marketing, said the following, “From its inception 20 years ago, the iconic Hayabusa motorcycle has been a visually- and technologically-stunning representation of Suzuki’s commitment to motorcycle performance. Literally tens of thousands of riders have owned this beloved model and it continues to be sought after even today. GT riders, drag racers, and customizers worldwide are obsessively devoted to the Hayabusa and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy. Suzuki Motor Corporation’s commitment to this model means a new generation of motorcyclists can experience the unmatched performance and style that the Hayabusa is known for globally.”

They make the whole balancing act look a lot easier than it really is.

I wonder what kind of weight those bikes have, and would be curious to know how tight that yoke is. If the yoke has the same resistance as a normal dirt/street bike, that's even more impressive!

Also, kick stands are over-rated. :D

Warning: this can happen to you! Be wary of entering a V-Max gravitational field.

Nice machine, I always like the Max.

There on the side of the road was motorcycle with a “For Sale” sign posted in the lawn beside it. Out of idle curiosity, I pulled over for a closer look and much to my surprise was the brawny-as-a-buffalo shape of a Yamaha V-Max. There was an immediate disturbance in the Force.

Porsche's luxury electric bikes are coming out this spring

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/porsches-luxury-electric-bikes-are-coming-out-this-spring/ar-BB1egDqU?ocid=BingNews

Porsche has launched a couple of other electric vehicles alongside the Taycan Cross Turismo, but they're of the two-wheeled variety. The luxury automaker has debuted two electric bikes inspired by the Taycan, both of which feature full-suspension carbon-fiber frame and Magura brakes. They're also equipped with components, including their motors and gear shifting systems, manufactured by Japanese bicycle industry giant Shimano. Porsche says they were made to complement the Cross Turismo, which has a rear carrier that can accommodate up to three bicycles.

No thanks. For that kind of coin, I could buy a decent touring cruiser motorcycle. I will be in the market for one this spring as my motorcycle group does some intermediate runs of about 300-500 miles in a day. My cruiser gets to feel a little cramped after that many miles in spite of a plush aftermarket saddle and high end highway pegs.

They hope to resume their runs after a year long hiatus because of Covid concerns.

The Yamaha V-max engine ( V-4 ) can be found in the Yamaha Royal star line of Touring Cruisers in addition to the incredible V-max. The cams in the Royal Star line are different that that found in the V-max to optimize mid range torque more suited to touring and towing a small camper or luggage carrier. They run great but the 4 carburetors are really tough to work with and synchronize.

If I had a spare $ 60,000, this is what I would want. The T-rex Campagna is a 3 wheel " auto car " which is considered a motorcycle / trike. It features a 4 cylinder in line motorcycle engine. For that kind of coin, I'm wondering why they didn't put in an efficient all aluminum 4 cylinder car engine and drive system.

More like Adventure all road, so goes well on as off the road but not the extreme mudding you'd do with a dirtbike or enduro.

The Guzzi V7 was on my love list a few years back. I just need more than 65HP, though.

65 HP is decent power. You need a good torque rating too, though. It all depends on if you have a shaft, belt or chain drive system though. Rear wheel HP is what matters.

You lose in the area of 25 % of your total power with a shaft drive.
You lose about 10 % with a belt drive.
You lose about 2% with a chain drive.

All of these power conveyance systems have their virtues.

Subtract those percentages from your total power and you have a final power curve. Factor in the weight of the bike and rider and you have what is used in the aircraft industry, a thrust to weight ratio. In this case, a weight to a rear wheel horsepower figure.

I have an old Honda Shadow 700 with 11,000 original miles on the odometer that produces 62 gross horsepower and 45 lb feet of torgue, and is shaft driven. Using the formula I mentioned, it has roughly 45 horsepower at the rear wheel. It easily kept up with Harley's and the others and easily cruised at 75 MPH or better. It also turned in 61 miles per gallon of gas as well while cruising at those speeds and had very low emissions. The carbs were fine tuned, however. What more can you ask for.

Types of bikes it comes down to Adventure or All-Road bikes.

They're for me comfortable to ride and with how there's sometimes nothing but a gravel road to get where I need to go I can just continue on not needing to worry it can't do the job. Also I'm a sucker on the looks when it comes to Adventure bikes.

What brought me to the Guzzi V85TT was the looks and the comfort of the bike, I tried a test ride in December and I was pretty much sold when I returned to our main office with it.

When it comes to the manufacturers , I've owned a Yamaha, a Triumph and now I got myself a Guzzi so I'm not sticking to a brand. All that matters to me is the looks of the bike and that they have a reliability standard.

Which means HD and BMW can go suck it! :O:

Admittedly, I have never tried the adventure bikes like you have, Then again, I don't have access to them like you do. :O: I think they are styled great. I have no doubt the engineering in them is also sound and you can go anywhere with yours. :yep:

For me, riding upright all day on your bike would be problematic. I guess it's all in what you like and are comfortable on. I would never put down Harley's and or their drivers. However, I have the tank off of an Ultra Classic Harley. It is a motorcycle that easily exceeds $ 30,000 dollars. In looking at the tank, the welds stick up 3/8 of an inch.

Not to be rude but the welds look like they were done by blind workers in a third world country. Those welds would have never passed quality control in Japan or on a Triumph Motorcycle and many other manufacturers. Keep in mind, this is on a motorcycle that is better than $ 30,000 dollars. This says nothing of some of the deficiencies in the Harley engines. Most consumers demand better quality.

I was once asked at a motorcycle rally what I thought of Harley's. I responded, they make great expensive t shirts. :haha: My comment wasn't well received. However, it's evident Harley is selling a culture, not quality motorcycle. That being said, I have seen some awesome Harley's. A friend of mine has FXR's and Dyna Wide Glides in fantastic shape. They look and ride like they are brand new. The question is, are they worth the exorbitant prices that are being asked for them ?

Only the individual motorcycle rider can answer that question.

I've always ridden in a group that's a mixed bag of brands, as expected you can just imagine the trashtalking in a good sense :D no one is spared of the others opinion when it comes to the other's brand but all in fun spirit.

Got an uncle and aunt which are pretty much HD in every sense of the word untill recently, they changed bikes to something that provides more rider comfort as their age have caught up.

What one spends on a motorcycle is all up to the rider to value it's worth he/she gets out of it. I wouldn't spend 30.000 on something that tends to shake itself apart and requires tons of maintenance and knowledge to keep running but I know there's people out there that love every bit of it.

Same here. But you are spot on with "changed bikes to something that provides more rider comfort as their age have caught up." As my age limits my flexibility, balance, and agility, I see a day coming soon where I'll have to retire the tall bikes like my Strom for something with a lower seat height.

Great choices though, especially the top one if you like some sporty touring and Suzukis are just solid bikes.
For the looks thought, that Kawa is a beauty.

One of the reason I finally sold my Triumph that the sitting comfort and mainly the seat height to the feet pegs was too short so my knees had to bend quite a bit and they protested after a day riding. Which got worse over the years so I found myself picking the Triumph less for a ride.

OH yeah those colours sold me in a blink of an eye, before I gave the V85TT a test ride I decided if I where to buy one it where to be those colours. :)

Slapped a raised windshield, side cases, crash bar around the cylinders , heated grips so I can ride off season as well in the mountains without the need of those annoying winter gloves and a Moto Guzzi MIA system which connects to the phone's app and allows the GPS to be directly streamed onto my dashboard on trips where I'd be using planned routes.

In our group, it is all a mixed bag as well. Probably typical of most rider groups. There is always good nature-ed trash talking with regards to the various machines they ride. My opinion has always been ride what you like and what makes you happy. I like the looks and performance of sport bikes. However, I wouldn't want one. They don't suit my style of riding / driving. I prefer stretched out Cruisers with a wheelbase of 65 or so inches. Add a good saddle and floorboards and highway pegs and you can cruise in comfort for hours.

@ Neal. You had mentioned riding discomfort. A friend had the same issues and traded in his fairly new Gold Wing on a fully dressed Can Am Spyder three wheeler. It has loads of storage with 2 hard shell saddle bags and storage trunks, fore and aft. The Spyder runs great and can keep up with anything. He feels that stability will become an issue in the future. The only drawbacks are that they get about 30mpg.

Trash talking being what is is, I call his Spyder a High Mobility Geriatric Scooter. :D :haha: I can tell he appreciates my assessment and comments on his new wheels.

Pretty much, ride what you like, gives you comfort and confidence because nothing is worse then riding a bike that you like the looks but makes you nervous and uncomfortable.

and same here, I enjoy looking at other types of bikes I ride myself but I know they're just not for me. You will now look like a two-wheeled stormtrooper :)
[...] Maybe Starwars is your thing.
I'd be very careful speeding as a stormtrooper :yep:

I'm in the process of obtaining a Harley Davidson Soft Tail Frame. I will do work if necessary to get it like the Harley Heritage. I have a number of Harley gas tanks and other assorted parts. I want to configure the frame to hold a Yamaha 1700 Road Star Engine that I have. I will need to weld in new motor mounts once the engine and drive belt are completely lined up with the rear swing arm. I will add a tour pack when it's finished.

The Yamaha Engine is a twin cam, push rod engine just like the Harley's. The difference is the Yamaha Road Star Engine has ceramic liners in the Cylinders and the cam drive is all gear. The Harley's use a faulty Chain Drive system on their engines and the guides wear out at 15,000-20,000 miles, if you're lucky. This engine takes out the Oil drive and the engine grenades in a spectacular fashion. This requires an engine tear down to either replace the guides of if the engine grenades.

Harley knew they had a problem with their twin cam engines and never addressed the issues. To top it off, their bikes / Trikes with these engine cost anywhere between $ 25,000-$ 40,000 Dollars. The Harley Davidson Evolution engine made in the 90's is widely regarded as the best Engine Harley Davidson ever made. :yep:

The Harley Frame has a wheel base of about 67 inches. With a good saddle with a back rest, this bike should be a comfortable ride with a reliable power plant. :yep:

The Black Shadow Motorcycle is a nice looking bike but a bit impractical for me. At this stage of my life, I like the creature comforts like old man running boards and a plush seat with a back rest and pull back bars. I have windshields that I have meticulously cut through to add a large vent that is closable and can be opened for good airflow on warm days. :yep:
