Anyone else having problems with these drivers? I will be playing the game as normal and then, out of the blue, the game will crash. I'm using two 8800s in SLI mode.

Did you use the 174.74's before?
I'm using the beta's since they got released, and everything runs fine here.

I have a 88000GTS 512Mb (the new G-92 core).

*edit* uhm, to answer your question...nope, I don't have problems with the 175.16's :p

I was using the beta and things were running fine. Then I switch to the 175.16 release and I get CTD"S and system "hangs" all over the place. Most usually when somethign blows up but at all different times. I run Monsun 200. Going back to the beta. My card is a GTX 8800 753 Vid Ram!

This won't help you but I am getting better performance (less jerkiness) with the 175.16's with my 7600GS over the 169's I previously had.

I tried the 174.74s a while ago and had the same sort of problem. I have the older 640 MB card, so that might be the issue.

You could try updating your vid.card's BIOS, but that's a little tricky...something I hate to do, personally.
Then try the 174.74's or 175.16's, maybe?

Now that you said this, while I haven't had any CTD's with the beta drivers, my system has hung twice.:hmm: Thing was, I was just surfing the net.

Nah, I'm not going to worry about it. It's not like I'm getting unsatisfactory performance with the 8800s. Besides, the new 9900s are not that far away.

I've read that the 9900's are a disappointment...Quite a few folks have even commented that they are inferior to the 8800GTX...I don't remember why.

Where have you read that? They aren't due for release until sometime this summer.

Sorry....I misread your earlier post as 9800's...about which my earlier comment about being surprisingly inferior to 8800's was intended.

I believe there may be something wrong with the optimization with your system..Go to this site and read some of the guides...

Easy on clayp, he just tried to help.
Tweakguides.com has some great tips about NVidia-drivers and their settings...this article (http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html), for example, covers the 175.16.'s:up:

Sorry if my post came across as unduly 'critical'...but I had gone to the linked 'guide' which you recommended and couldn't see how it related to the specific problem being discussed. Other than that it speaks of Nvidia settings. and...way too many people jump on this issue and immediately blame the "system", specifically VISTA.

I've deleted the post in question.

I tried the 175.16 drivers, and didn't have any issues, other than it deleted the Nvidia Control panel, with my darn Raid info, so I went back to the stock drivers that came with the eVga cards. BTW, I'm running in SLi, "2" 8800 GTS 512's. The only thing I can't get figured out, as I installed a DVI cable and took the analogue cable out (going to the monitor from the vid-card), but now I get banding like the display is in 16 bit, even though everything on the desktop says I've got 32 bit running.:-?

I am having a lot of luck with the omega drvier set, they are based on the 169.25 drivers and have not given me anycrashes so far. I am running a 8800 GTS 640 Vista and all setting maxed/turned on.

I run x64 vista, But i might just try the same date x64 drivers and give em a whirl

I also have the 8800 640 so maybe i get lucky lol

Ohh my crashes in vista x64 are explosions, Other than those i can sail forever with no crashes lol weird but annoying :(

Gonna go dig some drivers out now and have a redo tomorrow

Have Fun

Explosions are usaully what gets me too.
With now that I've gotten to break in the omega drivers I've found that the frequency of my issues have dropped to less than half. When I do have an issue instead of a CTD I get a second of black then it keeps on ticking. about ten percent of the time I'll get an actual CTD but since that happens every 3-4 hours intead of every 10-15 minutes I'm much happier.

Hiya's,
Tried the latest vista x64 omegas

3 Torpedo attacks in the sub school doo dahh and all explosions went off without a crash

Alas i tried a 4th time and then it locked up, But not like it locked up using nvidia drivers ...................

Nvidia drivers my explosion lockups freezed the game and screen went blank (black) HD light would still be going and i had to hit reset button to reboot pc

Now with these omega drivers i get the nvlddmkm.sys error message then it reboots

So at least as you say the frequency is less and i had full settings and both AA @ x4

Did try a modified nvlkkmkm.sys file but still locked up

Will try again with different modded .sys over the weekend if i can find some

Have fun

Running an EVGA 9800GX2, right when the torpedo explodes theres a 1/2 second pause then I get the explosion and on occasion things get jumpy. Otherwise seems ok. I have had the game freeze up in COD4.

Running single 8800GTS 512 on XP with latest drivers, no issues whatsoever. Only had SH4 crash on me once, when I right-clicked after drawing on the map...:-?

SH4 1.4 + ROW + NSM
