I've read the manual, went through the training, watched as many vids as I could find on the subject and I STILL can't figure out the tdc. Everytime I think i get a good solution I look at the attack map and its way out of sorts. So I go back through it and it comes up the same. I'm setting angle on bow (of target IE aspect) I go through the id manual and find the target, clicking the red check. Then go to the range finder and move the image to the top of the masts, then speed. Most of the time the friggin solution on the attak map is showing the torpedo is supposed to make a 180 degree turn to my stern (wtf)
Now, if I use the sonar to estimate range and bearing..its closer but is still off. I dunno what I'm doin to screw it up?
Any suggestions?

I can't say for sure, but it sounds like you're firing a forward torpedo at a ship thats passing your stern. An aft torpedo is the correct choice.

nope, ship is crossing my bow usually starting my setup first time at approx 45 degrees off the bow and I am trying to close to well within a thousand yards

Don't know for certain, but a couple of things to consider:
When you input the speed, or the AOB, or the range, click the send button twice. For some reason it only fully updates with a second click.
Make sure you have the appropriate tube selected.
It seems set the heading to target based on the current method used, but be careful if you have the attack and observation scopes looking in different directions.
Is the position keeper off?

Well there's yer problem, Vern, right there! You read the manual.:rotfl:
I'm going to refer you to the WernerSobe School of Advanced Attack Tactics (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=677410&postcount=82). Also please visit my completely heretical but highly effective Dick O'Kane targeting seminar and tutorial video (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=831085&postcount=146). If after boning up on all that wonderfulness, you get a wild hair and want to try something entirely weird and deadly go to the next post (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=870886&postcount=147) in the thread and check out my new Dick O'Kane Sonar Only (by God!) targeting video.
If your head doesn't explode from all that stuff, you'll be well equipped indeed!
