From our friends at SimHQ.
This seems to become spectacular - if they manage to get this one out wihtout showstoppers, bugs, and in a stable state.
It will also eat my system even without skinning it first, I'm sure. So probably this will be a no-go title for me.
However, this thing seems to be worth to learn and fly - for the simple depth of functionality and complexity. I love study flight sims, and this sim surely is set to compete in the top group on the list. I would even buy it if no battle qaction is included. As the author of the essay says: although he is previeiwng it and exmaines it since weeks if not months (he has done earlier previews as well) - he has not fired a weapon yet.
Be sure you don't miss the video, which gives an insight to a sim-cockpit that is almost unbelievable.

Black Shark has been in development for years now. Its faced numerous delays, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it. I just hope the campaign system is better than the crap scripted stuff you got in lock on. Hopefully they've also done a better job at the graphics engine. Lockon is an old game now and even with my monster rig I cant max it out without getting unacceptable fps losses!

One of those sims that has been so long coming I fear it will be a disappointment, the same feeling I have with BoB:SoW.
It looks good but does it play well?
Also the addon to Lockon, Flaming Cliffs I think had starforce protection. Does Black Shark have it too?

I do no longer care for neither a campaign nor for fighting in it. I want the flightsim part in it. as long as the chopper itself is okay in functionality, it is okay for me. It seems it already is hard enough to fly the damn thing, I also read his first preview and watched the first video, and saw it coming that this is complex functionality deluxe. But maybe that is just me. Some people do not tpuch a flightsim if it has no trigger to pull and planes to send down in flames. But I find myself almost exclsuovely flying peacefully with FS9 and Condor these days - IL2 or Falcon or Longbow 2 I haven'T touched for 2 years and longer. And Flanker 2 und 2.5 I have flown without ever fighting in it, just enjoying the flight model and cockpit feeling and trying to master the flying and avionics handling as professionally as possible for me.
I think of it as a complex helicopter module for FS9 :)

Well its without a doubt the most detailed avionics suite for any civilian simulator. Instead of X leads to Y, your in a living machine in which case X lead to A B and C which eventually lead to Y. I can't wait for it to come out, as its been a LONG time since a great chopper sim was released.

We can say two things with 99% accuracy, first it will not have a dynamic campaign in the sense of SH or Falcon 4. Maybe it will have a semi dynamic campaign mission editor the like of which is present in dangerous waters.
And second starforce is dead, but I think they will go with the second worst solution : web based activation. As draconian as Bioshock or worse the cp that was orignally proposed for Mass Effect ?
And last but not least, performance will be on par if not worse than what is observed in Fs X.
Maybe under all this there is to be found a real gem, but I doubt it.
It will be Lock On phase 2.

Maybe from people testing the BETA...Oh, wait. It's a BETA.

Yep, this one is a must for any serious sim-head IMHO. As is a new computer too I reckon...

Its not 100% certain, thats why I said with 99% certainty. :p
Me too I'm waiting for this game, except that I'm as little bit less enthusiastic as far as performance goes.
Did you see the reviewers pc ?
Quad core 6700 and Nvidia 9800gx 2. And the performance in the video wasn't excatly ground shattering. ;)

Is BS even designed for muti core cpus?

It would be a shame if it weren't.

Multi cores have been more or less the norm for a while now and still nobody designs software for them.
PD
for having been playing to Lock on for 5 years now i can say it's really a good sim i've seen that in Black shark there'll be soldiers running , i don't like much this kind of things personnally when i purchase this kind of game it's to shoot at targets i don't like when it becomes too realistic war isn't a game (brain on the walls isn't my cup of tea) but anyway i think it's gonna be a great sim http://www.emoticonland.net/smileys/Drapeaux/flags2484.gif (http://www.emoticonland.net) http://www.emoticonland.net/smileys/Expressions/expresss001.gif (http://www.emoticonland.net)

Not exactly, Falcon 4 Allied Force was compiled specifically for multicore cpu's.
If it was possibile for F4AF I see no reason (except laziness maybe) to not have a multi-core aware Black Shark simulation.

I didn't literally mean nobody, I know there are several of them. I knew of F4AF, Distant Guns is another that comes to mind. But the bigger design houses do seem to be kinda "lazy" in this regard.
It could just be that it is more difficult than we realize. Maybe their compilers aren't that great, maybe it's a total headache and brings all sorts of new compatibility issues up. Dunno.
