Kaleuns,

I was wondering how a crewmember obtains a wounded badge.
'get him wounded!' you might say, but it's not as easy as that...
Today, a top-ranking officer got wounded aboard the U-49 and I put him into the care of the Doc.
After awhile, he felt better and his wounded sign disappeared.

Strangely, when I got back to port, he didn't receive a wounded badge!
Does this mean you have to return with the actual wounded-sign still on him, before he receives a medal? It does sound strange, being wounded out at sea is just as bad (even worse actually) and deserves a medal!

Kaluen,

I believe this has been bugged since the start, not to sure tho'.

But you can award the injured party the badge using SH Commander!

It is only on the rare occasion a member of my crew has been awarded this badge and IIRC they were still showing the wounded sign when I ended the patrol http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Well, I think you can 'keep' them wounded by not placing them near a medic. But I'd rather have him back to work as soon as possible!
Won't keep people wounded just to get them their badge

Precisely....no-one is advocating keeping a valuable crewman in a wounded condition.

Some of us are humane you know http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1817/thinkbigsw1yo4.gif

With SH3 Commander you can award a wound badge to any crewman.

Using both SH3 and GWX and had my Watch Officer receive a wound from a shell. Didn't have a medic on board and could not do anything with him except put him in a bunk. Returned to port with him wounded, fully recovered in port for the next mission but with no wound badge. Didn't know SH3 would award him one. Will do it next time.

What does the 'wound' badge look like?

Wound badges were awarded in:

1) Black: 1-2 wounds.

2) Silver: 3-4 wounds or 1 wound if it resulted in the loss of a hand or foot, the loss of an eye, brain damage or if the wound involved facial disfigurement.

3) Gold: 5 or more wounds. Less if the wound(s) resulted in permanent blindness or total disability.

The use of the medic and the implementation of wounded/disabled/ill/killed in action and a realistic fatigue/morale model are really unfinished portions of the game. I have figured out how to implement both, but I have nonexistent programming skills so I can't write a simple program to do it. I have tried to use SHe3CMDR to do it, but I cannot get it to work properly.
If anybody who has some programming skills would like to help, please PM me.
