Okay im starting as early as possible to Jap get shipping while its high,BUt I;m finding I'm Going on Patrol after patrol in VERY hostile waters(Were talking like 40 nm off the Coast of Japan)and the biggest thing I've seem to be able to find is a Sampan, abd thats only every 2 patrols!

Anyways,I'm wondering is that natural or is my game screwed up?(I'm running RFB for 1.4)

Also what are some of the best hunting grounds you have found?

Last questison:Is the Aleutians any good or am I gonna waste my time starting a career there?

The Yellow Sea is a nice place, the straits of Formosa have some task forces and (best of all, if you can make it) the Sea of Japan has massive convoys in it with almost no escorts. I find the best way to sneak in is through the Hokkaido-Honshu straits.

I agree...The Yellow Sea is a favorite of mine. I seldom am dissappointed when hunting there. I've not yet tried the Sea of Japan, next patrol I'll have to have a look see.

There are several good hunting grounds in fact. As mentioned, Yellow Sea and Sea of Japan are nice but if you don't mind a bit more dangerous area as well, the area between Kyushu and Luzon Straits is packed enough of ships for you to throw boots at them. There are those small islands with one that has several ports on it. Liners, task forces, convoys. singles - they're all there within about 200km from the isles South- SouthEast. The bad news is that they're more heavily guarded ( a TF of one or two liners plus four escorts is common) and the air cover is borderline ridiculous sometimes. But if you play your cards properly, stay off the deck gun and don't let anyone see you and the prize can be very good indeed.

I've had very good luck off the coast of Indochina.

On my latest patrol I took a trip up to the Sea of Japan,October 1944. In 2 weeks on patrol there I saw a grand total of 4 ships(not counting fishing boats) 2 Fubuki DDs,1 Subchaser and one Soviet Freighter. Pretty slim pickings.:arrgh!:
