Well, it took long enough, but the new Beta version of SpringSharp, a warship design simulation program, is finally out. You enter the specifications for a warship, and the program calculates the ship's survivability, hull strength, stability, hull and work space, and other characteristics. There's just a few minor issues with the new version:

After entering the ship's beam, the user has to go to the armor page and set the "beam between bulkheads" at zero, or else the program won't properly calculate the strength, stability, etc. of your design.

The "engine factor" slider on the Engine page doesn't work. Workable destroyers still can't be designed in this version, since it can't calculate the mass of high-performanced steam turbines.

Always remember to set the layout for each battery, or else the performance statistics won't be properly calculated (this program is finicky!)

You can only design ships built between 1850 and 1950.

An interesting time-waster that might teach you a thing or two about warship design. :)

I was a regular poster on the Warships1 boards when it was first introduced to the Build Your Own Fleet board. It was an important part of the alternate universe naval treaty sim they were running back then.

Thanks for the heads-up.
