Hi there, I'll try & keeps this short.

Recently downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers (169.21) and noticed that with SH3 I had lost all my graphic tweak settings. Fort maybe they had bin overwritten so played around in N-Hancer & NVIDIA Control Panel but still looked like a new install & nothing I tweaked worked, couldn't work it out so rolled back the drivers to what I had (163.75) to see what would happen & found that all my tweaks where working again in SH3.

So want to know if any one else has had problems with these drivers?

Not sure who has had a similar experience, but there are sure to be some.

The only options usually available are to do what you did and revert back to previous ones or look for a beta of a newer set.

Hey Madcat.

I had a similar problem when I updated my drivers as well.

I would suggest uninstalling Enhancer completely, and then going with the latest Nvidia Beta for whatever card you may be using.

Mine was a big enough problem that I had to download a freeware program that deletes all of the Nvidia registry information, and then reload from the Nvidia disk / website.
The computer would crash in anything but safe mode until I did an uninstall and driver clean.
I think its Nvidia Clean Install, but you can also try searching for the file directly: "erasenvda".

Failing that, I can always email it to you if you can't find it.

When you do get the new beta drivers installed, try using only the control panel.
Theres really not much in Enhancer that you can't do in the Nvidia Control Panel, besides setting hidden driver settings.
Those driver settings are not displayed for a reason: the create unstability.

The other features of Enhancer (custom game display profiles, etc) can all be done with Nvidia Control Panel by switching to "Advanced" mode.

If I remember correctly from my previous forum thread searching while trying to correct my problem, the best settings are Anistropic at 8x, Anti-Aliasing at 4x (even if your rig can handle far better) ... the "less is more" approach.

Good luck.

:hmm: I remember a thread re. tweaking graphics settings for SH3 and found nHancer "broke" my nPanel... Had to work pretty hard to get rid of that thing again...

Try using ccleaner after removing nHancer and old nVidea drivers before updating to newest 169.21 and newest nPanel.

I was never pleased with what nHancer and the tweakings could give or at least in my case it did not improve anything. Have been using 169.21 and nPanel since then and can't be happier.

Especially with the new GWX 2.1 scene...

I also had problems with the 169.21 drivers and nHancer . In short my video card is an XFX 7600GT / 256 mb DDR3 . I tried every trick ( settings with nHancer ) in the book . I still had intermittent black triangles in the underwater views of my sub and the binoculers . I decided to start from scratch . Uninstalled nHancer , installed a new bata driver 174.74 and use the nVidia Control panel for settings . Seems to work better . And again , it is intermittent . This weekend i'm going to install an aftermarket GPU heatsink and fan . My card runs a little warm even though my rig is well ventallted . I read in another forum ( Sudden Strike 3 ) that heat can cause these triangles , so what the heck !

Doolar,

Set your Ansiotropic to 8x, and your AA to 4x.
Set it to run on Direct X, not Open GL.

That should cure your triangle problem for good.

(I run a 7300 GT.)

Hello,
this is from a flight sim, but concerning drivers this could be a similar problem.
I got white rectangles and flickering with my Nvidia EN7300 512 passive card in the WW1 flight sim "Over Flanders Fields" phase 2.

First i tried to get the most modern driver for the MSI card via automatic update, and installed it - same as before.
I tried all possible seetings from resolution to workshop settings with basic to very dense ground detail, or all sliders two 2, not working.
Then i downloaded another driver a forum member first mentioned, and a message like "the existent driver is a newer one than the one you try to install" popped up.

But it was not so:

Nio's driver: 6.14.11.7474 (the 1.74 is the number mentioned by nvidia), but the "newer" one installed was indeed 6.14.11.6218, or 1.62, in nvidia description, so indeed an older one was installed, but claimed to be the most advanced.

So try to download the 6.14.11.7474 driver (which indeed is number 1.74 in Nvidia description) and install it.

Restart PC, when there is a message like "changed hardware, do you want to install the appropriate files and settings?", click on ok, let the harddisk rattle and all should work.

Good luck and greetings,
Catfish

I mentioned something similar on another thread, I'm recently installed a Geforce 7300 GT 512mb, and with driver problems taking over a week to sort out I'm wondering if the damn thing was worth the trouble.
I loaded the supplied driver 169.21 and tweaked with nhancer, I later realised that nhancer conflicts with Nvidia control panel, by this time I'd dumped the driver and installed the beta 174.74, that was ok for a while, it didn't seem stable, so I uninstalled and have gone back to an old 91.47 version (2006) that I have running with the Control panel only. It is the best and most reliable so far even with the settings on max.

Catfish did you ever sort the problem out with "Over Flanders Fields"?

Hello,
yes, maybe what i wrote was misleading (?).

"try to download the 6.14.11.7474 driver (which indeed is number 1.74 in Nvidia description) and install it."

Did you do that ?
