Oh heck I have a bad feeling over this one.

BBC's Edge of Darkness is considered a bit of a classic, and we seriously doubt whether Gibson can pull off Bob Peck's legendary wide-eyed expression of horror and disbelief.

That I can seriously believe.

I have a feeling this will crash and burn, but somehow Mel Gibson will walk away from the wreckage like some unwanted super-hero.

Also, you CANNOT remake Alfred Hitchcock films such as 'Psycho' or 'The Birds'! It is a well known fact. (By me anyway...)

nooooooooo

"they can steal our plutonium, but they can never steal our freeeeeddddooooommmmm!"

Lets hope if they do make this with mel, that the floyd will not allow any of the music from the original series to be used.

EDIT:
Reading some of the comments, I'd forgotten the original series had Joanne Whalley as the coppers daughter. I had a real crush on her in 'Scandal'

I reckon/hope it fails.

Gibson has been anti Brit for a long time now :nope:

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

So, we have:

No Joe Don Baker watching Come Dancing/eating breakfast in a muumuu/going bananas with bars of plutonium/running about in the dark shooting about 20 SAS guys as they leap through windows
No Clapton/Kamen soundtrack
No Bob Peck in a mac in the rain looking miserable
No UK/US espionage intrigue
No Harcourt/Pendleton double-act from Ian McNeice and Charles Kay
Zero relevance to the political climate of today - or is Thatch still in power? Perhaps it'll revolve around a Jewish conspiracy
None of Troy Kennedy Martin's fantastic script
No Joanne Whalley!

Should be a roaring success then.

Perhaps it's just an elaborate set-up so that at the first junket press conference Campbell can whip out a couple of bars of enriched plutonium and irradiate that useless fart Gibson in a big flash and cloud of smoke.

They actually went further than that....they also cut off his head, arms and legs and sent them to the far corners of the UK :o
