Dear Abby,
Is anybody else having this problem: I upgraded to 2.1 and I can no longer go flank speed in my IXb. When I tell it to go to flank, instead it goes to all stop.:damn:
Can't run away from escorts,
North Atlantic:ahoy:

LOL!:rotfl:
Even after all this stime this sill happenes!
I love that part of SH3 Commander! I remember one W@W patroll with my old IXB. With malfunction & Sabotage since day one since I left port! :damn:
That was fun even if it wasnt once a DD caught up with me!
I still wonder how i managed to escape with only one/third (which was the most my LI could squeeze out of the machine) max speed submerged!

seems like we see this same post two or three times a month. maybe more
if its not the flank speed not working its the blurry scope, if its not the blurry scope its the fuel being consumed too fast, the list goes on

Yes, I wish someone would fix this blatant game bug, it's starting to get annoying.

But nobody ever seems to ask "This Malfunction/Sabotage button - what does it do?"

That would be because everyone is dutifully reading the detailed explanation in the SH3Cmdr User Guide:
Model effects: Select this option to model the effects of equipment malfunctions and/or sabotage. With this option selected you will need to make decisions like a real Commander if you identify faulty equipment, which can include damaged lens seals, damaged clutching/transmission components, leaking fuel tanks, worn batteries, faulty valves and seals, to name a few. Can you continue the patrol, or should you abort? The choice is yours.
...wouldn't it? :hmm:
yes but one would also assume, upon reading aforementioned section and selecting the revelant option in SH3Commander, that one at least gets some kind of report on faulty equipment
anyway thats what I assumed

Ah, yes the Pre-Patrol Sabotage & Malfunction reports that all U-Boats received prior to leaving port.
Dear Kaleun;
On this patrol you can expect to experience trouble with your flak fire rate and your dive planes may stick.
Happy Hunting
Love the resistance. xxx
Rightly so, you won't know what's wrong with your boat until it bites you.

Or, Kpt to crew: "OK guys, I've just been speaking to the dockhands. Those wacky guys have really outdone themselves this time, so much so that you are all in for a real treat this patrol. Here's a list of what you can expect:
-faulty shaft seals, relief valve seals, emergency valve seals, diving tank seals, battery cell seals and fuel bunker seals caused through battery acid being poured onto them
-oil contamination caused through addition of sugar
-water contamination caused through addition of dead dog to the tanks (what will they think of next?)
-botulism
-fuel leaks caused through pencil holes being drilled in fuel bunkers
-stress cracks caused through poor welding
I'm certainly impressed."
Seriously though, assuming Bosje that you mean a report of identified malfunctions, what's the point? It's too late then; you've already found them. That's why real Kaleuns were proactive and did test dives and checks every time they started a new patrol, so they could identify any problems and decide whether to proceed before needing to evade the Destroyer that's bearing down on them.
