that's why mexicans try to cross the border, to get to a country more respectful of human being and that is way too bright to ever want to adopt that kind of laws :)
And that is why mexico never does well in the olympics; anyone who can swim, jump or run fast is living in the USA.:D

Being Mexican, you are not subject to the above restrictions. Only thing here is money. THey make it, send it home, and then go back home to retire. They have no want to stay here other than $$$.

Not entirely. There are Mexicans who come here to stay.

They end up becoming citizens.

But of course that wasn't your point, and I agree this time: many Mexicans come here for the best of reasons, but many more abuse the system and then protest that America treats them like criminals. And if you break the law, that's how you should be treated; at least up to a point.

I like a lot of those rules. We should adopt them.

That's one of problems many of us have with your posts. You make claims and then come up with good 'reasons' why you can't back them up. If you don't show sources, how does anyone know you're not making it up?

Damn, I need to forward this to Lou Dobbs (cnn.com)
Too bad we can't bombard our US congresscritters with this.
They'll just have their flunky that checks e-mails delete it.

I thought that early on they toyed with German then declared for English (of sorts).

I believe that while English isn't "official" by law, all government documents, laws, court documents are in English only. That, by default, makes it official, sort of.

They really should declare an official language here. In France, it's French. In Germany, it's German. In Spain, it's Spanish. In Portugal, it's Portugese. In Florida it's Spani.....er, well, not sure. Hard to find anyone in Miami that speaks English.

I don't know what, if anything, they did decide on but the bill to make German the national language failed by only one vote. Apparently at the time there were more German speaking citizens than English and England was still viewed as the enemy.

We have two official languages Finnish and Swedish. Because Finland was part of Sweden proper for 600yrs and 6% speak Swedish as their first language. We have everything in two languages, from official documents to road signs.

That works ok for a country with two main ethnic groups but here in America with sizable populations of every culture in the world? :o

Imagine a street sign in 50 different languages!
