Setting off on my 12th patrol in U47, now in GWX 2.1 I decided to take in the sights. Past the pens and the wrecks, past the gun emplacements...
Then off in the distance something shimmering, it was this French ship with its lights on (note the time):

Oh well, sometimes I leave the lights on as well ;)
Then I see on the map a VIIc nearby, turned out to be in a spot of bother:

Just then a commerce raider steams up and joins in (note the VIIc in the background):

Meanwhile, off in the distance a Schellboot crew are having an even worse time:

Ouch!
And finally I notice a ghostly line of trees (this one perhaps down my 8800GT graphics and/or the 16km visibility?):

Think I'd better get out to sea pronto!
Not sure if this is the problem but, if you save while in port, all AI ships in port lose their waypoints and will most likely run aground.

If not what HW3 mentioned it's just Lorient being evil again,.... it's the toughest port for the AI to deal with for some reason, sometimes everything goes smoothly, your escort does what it's supposed to do and they all live happily ever after once you've left the scene...
and sometimes you get shipcapades...
Believe me, it's been looked at and looked at, and then rehashed, and looked at and fixed, and fixed again...
It's just one of those things...

That could well be the cause :hmm:
The commerce raider has now shown up as a blue wreck so the KM is not doing so well at the moment.
Also I've just been radioed to change port to St Nazaire

Its hard to keep the AI from running aground.:damn: AI's pathfinding scripts is a joke.:nope:
But GWX team did an amazing job reguardless.

Not " could well be " but IS the cause
Saving in or very close to port causes ALL AI units to lose waypoints even aircraft
I expect you have been moved to St Naz to spare the KM any further embarrasment in Lorient
:rotfl:
Maybe...a huge magnet somewhere..?:o
I agree, probably a save bug..:yep:
yes but i once returned to lorient from a patrol, i had loaded a save game before returning but that was in the middle of the atlantic. should have been fine but my escort was grounded nonetheless
(that will be the crappy pathfinder then)
this was in gwx2.0

and are trying to avoid him :rotfl:

The crew of the French boat were obviously having a party on the boat (note the red lights on the bridge), celebrating 20 years of peace-time!

Red light on the bridge?
maybe they've found a way to earn some extra money and have fun with some ladies :rotfl:
